Bonaddio Construction tops Kiwanis, advances to Championship

Bonaddio Construction used a 9 run fourth inning and a 6 run fifth inning to pull away from a determined Kiwanis Club team with a thrilling 17-10 victory in a competitive Little League game held on Sunday at Broad River. The hitting stars for Bonaddio Construction were Cooper Grillo with 3 hits, including a double and a Grand Slam, scoring 3 runs and knocking in 4 runs. Jake Pomponi also went yard and got another hit and scored 3 runs. Daniel Miller also had 2 hits while knocking in 3 runs and scoring twice. Miller made a key defensive play at second base in the top of the 5th to stop Kiwanis rally and Bonaddio kept an 11-10 lead heading into the bottom of the 5th where they pulled away before darkness ended the game. Kiwanis, who roared through the losers bracket and ran off 3 straight wins got a huge game from Stephen Arduino. The All-Star went 4-4 with a single, 2 doubles and his first Home Run of the season. Arduino drove in 3 runs, and scored 4 runs. In addition to his offensive prowess, he played an unbelievable first base making spectacular plays all day. Jack Gratz doubled home a run, Landon Heatley singled home a run, and Ian Foster doubled and was on base all four times for Kiwanis. Bonaddio Construction advances to the Championship round with the game Tuesday against Monker Grotto.
