Braves Top Pirates In Extras
Big win for the Braves tonight; tough loss for the Pirates. Friday night baseball at its best with a competitive match-up. The two pitchers, Eric Engler for the Pirates, Robert Reed for the Braves, matched each other for seven innings, racking up strikeouts while being very stingy with hits and runs. In the 8th inning the Braves finally scratched out a run with a one out single and stolen base by Reed himself and a two out single by Ryan Hodjer to drive in what proved to be the game-winner. Tim Weber had a pair of hits for the Pirates and Chris Peters had three (Single, Double, Triple).
