Say it isn't so. No more winter baseball clinic. My two boys will be so disappointed to hear this. They were going to have two of their friends signup this year, too. I always passed along the MIT winter baseball clinic info to all the players on my teams, since it is such a well run program. We'll surely miss it this year. Thanks for all your dedication and effort. Back in the day, prior to MIT taking it over, I actually helped out with this clinic under Bob Pisco. Hopefully, someday it will make a comeback!!

Last week I had the opportunity to witness the Challenger game. All involved (players, staff and sponsors) should be proud to be associated with such a wonderful event. I'm sure the day is the highlight of the year for these kids. Keep up the good work.

AL, Thank-you for your kind words. I would like to think that you will be back next year, but I know that just won't happen. I want to thank-you for your many years of service to the children of Wakefield Little League and the MIT. You have been a great addition to our tournament. You have exhibited great professionalism and sportsmanship throughout your tenure here at the MIT, but most of all, you have cared about the kids. You are what the Medford Invitational Tournament is all about. Over the many years with us you have given your players memories that will last a lifetime. I hope to see you down at the park next year. Good Luck! We will miss you.

Congratulations to Bubba and his players. They are a well deserving champion. Thank you to the MIT staff and directors for their tireless eforts in running this great tournament. Their attitude and spirit is unequalled at any level of baseball. The Challenger event has been a great addition to the MIT experience. The Wakefield All Stars were unbelievable in their attititude and execution on and off the field. The coaching staff truly appreciates yours and your families efforts in how you approached this tournament and how you conducted yourself. Good luck to Coach Sauca and future Wakefield MIT teams.

I would just like to thank all the members and staff of the MIT tournament for a running a first class tournment. I know that Bubba has been bringing teams down from Billerica for the last 12 years, but this was my first time at the tournament and it was just great. The kids and parents had a great time and it was all due to the volunteers and staff of the tournament. I would also like to thank all the teams that participated, they represented their cities and towns proudly. Good luck in the future.

This was the best tournament I've ever been in. The kids had fun from day one and the Medford crew got the Tewksbury Parents involved between innings which was nice for the kids to see. Hats off to all the coaches and their players which we played. They all showed very good sportsmenship. The ground crew did a great job especially between games as did all the other volunteers.

I watched a great game of baseball today, score was Wakefield 3 Melrose 2.But something just wasn't right, the best grounds person in the history of the Mit wasn't there. Ricky Thorton wasn't seen yesterday @ Columbus. As I took my official seat behind the scorer's table out of the corner of my eye behind home plate I saw what I thought was work of the legendary grounds guru. The word Mit was painted in red, white and blue. So Ricky was there!!! Like a ninja Ricky had gone to Columbus and prepared the field. Thanks Rick,if you don't get back to the this year please know this. The Mit staff wants to thank you for all the work you have done @ Columbus Park. You will be missed!!!! Bernie

On behalf of the entire MIT family, I wish to welcome everyone to the 2008 Medford Invitational Tournament. This year, we are celebrating our thirteenth year of great baseball and fun. It is our hope that you will utilize this guestbook to share your comments and thoughts about our tournament. It is a great way for our staff to get some feedback on how we are doing. It is also great for the kids to share their experiences with the other teams. We ask that you remember that the kids will be reading this guestbook so please consider them when you write. We hope everyone has the time of their lives. LET THE GAMES BEGIN !!! (notice:The MIT reserves the right to not publish a guestbook entry due to inappropriate content)

Bernie, I just wanted to take the opportunity to congratulate the entire MIT organization on an outstanding tournament this year. From top to bottom this was a class act! As you know we (Somerville) were very late in committing and selecting a team for this tournament, and as a result a number of our players came from our 11 year old group. As the president of Somerville Little League, I must say that I am very proud of these kids and their coaches. In spite of some lop-sided scores, this Somerville team came to play each and every game, showing a lot character and class, while learning some valuable lessons in the process. I am looking forward to seeing many of these same kids coming back to compete in this tournament next year. Again, fantastic job! Best regards, Joe

I can't believe baseball season is over. This is my son, Brendan's, 2nd year joining MIT All-Stars. The All-Stars teams from other towns and cities did an incredible job considering the challenges they had to face. They all put up a great game. The games were very enjoyable to watch. MIT field meticulously well kept. Great family fun to go with your entire family. The MIT staffs are wonderful, courteous and friendly. And their food is yummy! Thank you. CONGRATULATION TO WAKEFIELD ALL-STARS ON THEIR CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!!! You did it!! Special thanks to Al Ritcher and assist coaches for putting these talented players together. Everyone of the players deserve a standing ovations for playing hard and tough.

It was nice that a kid hit a walk off homerun to advance to the finals. But the best game played had to be when Malden beat Newton and their Malden player hit a walk off homerun to win the tournament. For those of us who were there it was an amazing week for that kid. I am leaving his name out but for those of you who were there it had to be the best performance by a player in the 12 years of the tournament Unfortunatly, he won the tournament with the walk off home run against my hometown Newton team

We just wanted to thank the entire staff of MIT for a wonderful tournament. We looked forward to EVERY game, and the kids (and parents) really had a great time. Each and every one of you put your heart and soul into this tournament, and it shows immensely. You're truly a group of wonderful, caring people to do what you do, and you should be very proud of what you bring to our kids. Keep up the GREAT work.

Just finished watching the Challenger Day slide show. It was a most amazing thing to view. Once again the M.I.T. staff outdoes themselves. There are no words to explain the joy these players give to the game of baseball and to anyone who watches them play the game.

Ron, Sorry this E- mail took so long but, Congratulations for yet another fantastically Ron tournament. I think you should change the name from medford Invitional Tournament to The Most Inspirational Tournament. My kudos go out to all involved in the Challenger Division this is a wonderful venue for all these children the happy faces exemplify what a great job done by all your staff, I don't want to list names for fear of omitting anyone. I can assure you that this is the best run tourney anywhere. I was there every night and continually was told how great the field looked, how well Ron the voice of the M.I.T., and how much fun the players, coaches and spectators were having. We had a couple of teams that didn't fare too well but they were there game after game, and their fans and players were simply wonderful considering some of the scores. This is what makes your tournament so special. The fans from Everett and Somerville should be commended they were the backbone of the singing and dancing. Somerville was so enthralled by your crew one of the mothers baked cookies and brownies thanks to Mrs. Scrima they were delicious. Finally lets give credit to RICKY THORTON and crew they are the best groundskepper anywhere, THANKS RICK because without you and the countless hours you put in our league would be in big trouble. People from our league did a great job no names again I would not want to omit anyone's name you know who you are thanks to all of you. The M.I.T. was a memorable experience again. Looking forward to next year so everyone rest up. Thanks again to all. Lon Hillson President S.M.L.L.
