   BAMFL Lightning Policy:

  • The responsibility for removing players from practice/game areas in a timely manner lies with each Head Coach of the BAMFL team.  If the Head Coach is not present the Assistant Coach will assume responsibility.

  • The BAMFL Head Coach will monitor impending conditions, watch for lightning and listen for thunder, and will be responsible for when fields should be clear.

  • When thunder or lightning is detected or imminent the BAMFL will alert all players, cheerleaders and spectators and suspend the practice/game at that time.

  • Everyone must evacuate to a safe structure.  A vehicle is considered safe if it is fully enclosed with a hard metal roof, rubber tires, and closed windows.  Keep hands off inside metal objects.

  • If unable to reach a safe structure, persons should stay away from the tallest objects (i.e. poles and trees), metal objects (i.e. bleachers and fences), standing pools of water and open fields.  Avoid being the tallest object in the field, crouch down if necessary.

  • Under no circumstances shall practice/game resume until 30 minutes after the last lightning flash is seen or thunder is heard.
