TYFA Football Programs
A TYFA year is split into 2 seasons. Spring is for fun and Fall is very competitive.
Each is mutually exclusive of the other.
TYFA has 2 levels of play in football:
- Division 1 which is equivalent to (5A) in high school
- Division 2 which is equivalent to (4A) in high school
In the Football Program there are 4 eligible age brackets all of which may compete
- Flag (4-5 year olds only) Spring/Fall
- Midgets (6-7 year olds only) Spring/Fall
- Rookies (8-9 year olds) Spring/Fall
- Juniors (10-11 year olds) Spring/Fall
- Seniors (12-13 year olds) Spring
INFO:
- Football is available for both Boys and Girls with no discrimination against their size or weight.
- In the Spring there are 6 regular season games and a Bowl weekend. In the Fall each team plays 8 regular season games and if they qualify, up to 4 or 5 playoff games ending in a State Championship.
- There are roster limits for both Spring and Fall.
- Spring games normally last an hour and Fall games last nearly 2 hours.
- In the Spring/Fall there may be travel between a major city and the surrounding towns.
- Most organizations charge a gate fee which is used to pay for the referees and or help pay for the facility.
- Playoffs (Fall only) are like high school in that they are cross regional (teams may travel all over Texas to play games).
