UMPIRE TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION

UMPIRE TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION

Individuals interested in becoming club umpires must complete an annual training provided by our Director of Umpires Danny de Varona.

Umpires 18 and older need to pass a background check. 18 and under you need a letter from an adult who knows you, preferably from the park. You will be notified when to come to the park for your ID picture

If you don't have the ID, you won't be able to umpire.

The meeting reviews club specific rules, standards for umpires as well as position and movement on the field, controlling game situations including behavior and conduct of coaches, players and fans,  and all aspects of the playing field.  The upcoming meeting and training program is TBA.
Anyone wishing to umpire for Miami Lakes Optimist Baseball/Softball program must attend an umpire meeting, you will need to purchase a black, light blue umpire shirts, and a black hat from the Miami Lakes Sports Shop.  If you need additional information please contact the Director of Umpires, Danny de Varona, at 305-457-6688
