Radnor off to 1st District final ever behind spirited effort!
May 26, 2016

Andrew Austen gutted out a l-o-n-g day at Great Valley HS to lead the Raiders to their 1st ever district final.  Andy went 6 2/3 innings to earn the win over the defending District champion, Holy Ghost Prep.  Will Hoysgaard (2-3 with 2 runs scored) and Pat McDermott( 2-4 with 1 run scored) paced the 9 hit Radnor attack.  Sean Mullarkey continued to be a factor going 1-2, scoring twice with 2 RBIs and 2 SBs.  The teams combined for over 20 steals on the warm day.

The Raiders also scored 5 runs off of the HGP star who will be drafted next month - although slightly lower - after RABA picked him off a couple of times!  Pat Scheri had a big 2 run single to cap off the scoring in a 4 run 3rd inning that saw the good guys come back from a 3-2 deficit to take a 6-3 lead, which they would never relinquish.  The game was over in a tidy 3 hours and 15 minutes and everyone still had time to chow down at St. Davids CC right after.  The boys next play Wednesday at 4 PM vs Upper Moreland in the AAA district final.  Mick - whip this horse for 7 more innings my friend!!!

RABA = 2016 AAA DISTRICT CHAMPIONS!!!!!
June 1, 2016

Will Hoysgaard threw 6 shutout innings and received 3 outs of help from Andrew Austen to lead the Radnor Red Raiders to their 1st ever district title.  Connor Wilson led off the game getting to 1st on a pitcher's error.  Andrew Austen had a great AB for a walk and Matty Schaefer ripped the first pitch he saw into right for an RBI single.  Andy and Schaef worked a double steal to score a 2nd run and then Martin Connor's grounder was misplayed by the SS to allow a 3rd run to score.  Pat McDermott started off two doubleplays and Will struck out 6 to balance out 7 walks and keep Upper Moreland off the board.  This wacky bunch of throwbacks erased memories of an 0-5 start and claimed the school's first district banner!  Mickey was right all along...this was a championship team!  The boys embark on their inaugural state tournament Monday - keep hittin it past em!!!!!  Congrats to RABA nation (players, parents, friends) - past and present on the stunning accomplishment!  Thank you for your support!!!
