... Sports is another passion in Palisades Park, with several parks offering fields for baseball, softball, football and basketball. Last year, the town's Little League all-star team won the state championship and advanced to within one game of making a trip to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa. Signs announcing the feat greet motorists at all the major roads into town.


''It was something that really got people excited,'' Mr. Iannaconi said. ''People were calling up the Police Department to find out the scores.'' The desk sergeant was usually ready with the updates, for crime itself is not a major problem...

Summary:
