League Description/Overview - Baseball

TBALL : 4-5 Year Olds (Age on April 30)
Introducing baseball to 4 & 5 year olds. The very basic baseball skills are introduced. The league uses a soft ball and utilizes a batting tee in order to develop proper swing technique and to keep the pace of the game more enjoyable for the younger ages.

SHETLAND : 5-6 Year Olds (Age on April 30)
Introductory pitching machine league for 5 & 6 year olds. The league offers two divisions:Shetland Instructional – (Ages 5 and 6), designed for the 1st year Shetland player and focuses on the basics (catching, throwing, hitting, running), and ShetlandAdvanced – (Ages 5 and 6), designed primarily for the 2nd year Shetland player, and the more advanced 1st year player, to build on the basics in a more competitive atmosphere 


ROOKIE : 7-8 Year Olds (Age on April 30)
Advanced pitching machine league. Cal Ripken league guidelines are used for the rules. This league does allow strike outs if batter does not hit from machine. Guidelines are used to ensure infield and outfield time defensively. Coaches allowed in the field to help with instruction.
 
MINOR : 9-10 Year Olds (Age on April 30)
Live pitch league. Cal Ripken league guidelines are used for the rules. Steals are allowed. Rules require a 9 year old pitch at least one full inning so most participants get the opportunity to pitch.  Pitching distance is 46' with 60' base paths.  
 
MAJOR : 11-12 Year Olds (Age on April 30)
Live pitch league. Cal Ripken league guidelines are used for the regular season rules rules. Leading off and pick-offs are allowed. Pitching distance is 48' with 70' base paths. Likely to be played in the rural league.


PONY : 13-14 Year Olds (Age on April 30)
Live pitch league. Pony league guidelines are used for the rules. Leading off and pick-offs are allowed. Pitching distance 54', with 80' base paths.  Players will compete in local Bronco Rural League against nearby Parks in National and American Leagues.

BABE RUTH : 13-15 Year Olds (Age on April 30)
Live pitch league. Babe Ruth league guidelines are used for the rules. Competitive league with tryouts and no guaranteed playing time.  Leading off and pick-offs are allowed. Pitching distance 60.5', with 90' base paths.  Click here for a more detailed description of the differences between the Pony and Babe Ruth leagues.
