TNLI 16U Gold - USSSA 2015 Labor Day Champs

Congratulations to TNLI 16U Gold for taking first place in the USSSA Labor Day Tourney the weekend of Sept 5 & 6 2015. After seating 6th out of Saturday, the team got down to business on Sunday when it counts the most. In their first game of he day, they beat the Hampton Riptide 5 to 1 putting them into the semi finals against the LI Surge Black who they proceeded to handle with ease beating them in a run rule 11 - 0. This set up a match up in the Finals against the Bluefire Fastpitch.

The contest was a tightly contested game as 16U Gold was denied the lead in the 3rd inning with a runner getting gunned down at the plate. In the fourth inning, Bluefire clawed out two runs to take the lead into the top of the 7th. Nitro had runners on first and third with 2 outs and 2 strikes on Angela Barberis, who calmly roped a line drive into the right center field gap for a 3 run home run and the lead. In the bottom of the 7th, Bluefire was able to even it all up putting the game into extra innings and International Tiebreaker scenario.

Nitro was able to plate 3 runs in the top of the 8th, capped off by a Danielle Miller, 2 out double to score the last 2 runs to give Nitro a 6 to 3 lead and after 3 quick outs in the bottom of the 8th the Championship as well. It was a great display of the confidence and never quit attitude that this team has developed under the guidance of Head Coach Dayna White.
