NAPA Defeates Bigler

NAPA defeated the Bigler Buccos 6-3 Thursday evening at the DuBois Central Catholic baseball field.  Cory Bookhammer scattered three hits and seven walks in route to a complete game victory.  He gave up three earned runs and struck out six.  Derek Clark had a pair of hits and drove in three runs.  T.J. Anderson, Todd Schickling, and Alex LaBue also had two hits while Houston Fairman hit a double.

For Bigler, Travis Lonjin suffered the loss.  He tossed 1 2/3 of relief giving up three earned runs on five hits and two walks.  Kurt Krise started for Bigler throwing 4 1/3 innings giving up three earned runs but did not factor in the decision.  Hahn doubled and drove in three in the losing cause.

Rockets Win In Showers Finale

The DuBois Rockets defeated the Bigler Buccos 10-6 Friday evening in DuBois. The game is the final game that will ever be played at Showers field before it is demolished and renovated. DuBois got a complete game effort from Sean Zimmerman. Zimmerman's first ever complete game was aided by Garret Peterson's grand slam.  The hot hitting Kevin Gnacinski also chipped in a couple RBI's in the effort.

Denny's Defeats Bigler 5-4

Denny's Beer Barrel and Pub edged the Bigler Buccos 5-4 Saturday evening.  Bigler put up four runs in the first to jump out to a quick lead but thats all they would score throughout the game.  Denny's answered with one in the 2nd and four in the bottom of the 7th to take home the win.

For Denny's, Philip Solley had three hits including a triple and drove in one.  Adam Jury roped a double and drove in three and Derek Danver doubled.  Ben McGary got the complete game win giving up one earned run on seven hits and fanning 4.

For the Bucs, Jarret Fulmer had a pair of hits, Tyler Jacobson drove in a pair, and Coleman Kubala and Drew Brown each drove in a run.  B.J. Stephens was solid until he ran out of gas in the 7th.  He gave up four earned runs on nine hits and a pair of strike outs.  Mac Godin came in relief of Stephens

Rockets Beat Up On NAPA

The DuBois Rocket's bats came alive Sunday at NAPA as they were able to win 19-6 in five innings due to the league mercy rule.  Kevin Gnacinski once again led the Rockets attack with a pair of hits which included a double and five RBI's.  Garret Peterson doubled twice and drove in a run.  Justin Sleigh had two hits and a double, Sean Zimmerman drove in three,  and Chris Bukousky hit a triple.  Jonny Davis slapped four singles and drove in three.

Sam Skraba pitched a complete game for DuBois giving up 5 earned runs on 10 hits and fanned three.

For NAPA, Nate Liddle had two hits, Nick Wruble and Mike Gralla doubled, and Jordan LaBue drove in a pair of runs.

Kevin London took the loss for NAPA.  He lasted three innings, gave up 14 earned runs on 14 hits  with no strikeouts.  Nick Wruble pitched an inning giving up three earned, and Cory Bookhammer tossed a scoreless 5th.

Rockets Edge Grays 5-4

The DuBois Rockets were able to put up put up two runs in the bottom of the 7th to sneak out a win against the visiting Brookville Grays at DuBois Central Catholic.  DuBois got another strong outing from T.J. Gornati who threw another complete game, giving up four runs, scattering six hits and striking out a season high 14.  DuBois offense was led by Justin Sleigh who had two hits, Garret Peterson and Chris Bukowski each doubled and drove in a run.  League RBI leader, Kevin Gnacinski, was hit by a Ryan Barrett pitch with the bases loaded to end the game. 

Brookville was led by Eric Painter who had two singlesand Dunkle who doubled, tripled, and drove in three runs.

Ryan Barrett took the loss with his first blown save of the year.  He gave up 2 runs on 2 hits, 2 walks, and 1 hits batsman.  He also struck out 1.  Brandon Bell threw six solid innings giving up only three runs while scattering seven hits and fanning 3.

Rossiter Shuts Out Denny's

The Rossiter Miners shutout Denny's Beer Barrel Pub 2-0 Sunday evening at Shaffer Field.  Christian Muth fired a one hit gem walking none and striking out a pair.  He did not allow a base runner until the 7th inning when Ben McGary singled up the middle past a diving Pete Meterko.  That would ultimately be the only baserunner to reach.

Rossiter scored in the bottom of the 3rd on and RBI single by Braedon Pennington, who had Rossiter's only two hits in the game.  In the 5th, Pete Meterko walked and stole second.  Pennington walked and then Rick Bishop hit a ball that was misplayed by the third baseman allowing Meterko to score Rossiter's 2nd run.

Tyler Noel suffered the loss tossing three innings giving up one run on two hits and four strikeouts.  Parker Harrington threw two innings giving up a run and Chad Zurat threw a scoreless 6th.

Denny's Edge Rockets

Denny's Beer Barrel and Pub edged the visiting DuBois Rockets 2-0 Tuesday night in a classic pitchers duel.  Both Chad Zurat and Dom Kriner tossed complete games.  For Denny's, Zurat did not allow a run, gave up five hits, and fanned 12.  Kriner allowed two earned runs on seven hits and five strikeouts.

Ben McGary and Brandon Billotte each doubled and drove in a run.  Andy Redden doubled and Mike Davidson had two singles.

For the Rockets, Sean Zimmerman doubled and Justin Sleigh had two hits.

Denny's Over Bigler 5-4

Denny's Beer Barrel and Pub spoiled Bigler's shot at their first win with a walk off single in the bottom of the 7th by Adam Jury.  Bigler jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the 1st, which would be all they would score the whole game.  Denny's began to chip away in the 3rd after Brett McCracken and Tom Yeager hit back to back singles to get on base.  Brett Sutika then drove home McCracken on a groundout and Yeager then used his speed to score on a wild pitch.  Denny's got two more in the 4th inning.  Cory Bailor led off with a single, then after walk to James Zimmerman, Parker Herrington put down a bunt on which the ball was thrown away.  Bailor came in from 2nd to score. After a Tom Yeager RBI single, Denny's tied the game at 4 apiece.  In the bottom of the 7th, Brandon Billotte singled, then Sutika Walked.  Both then advanced on a wild pitch which set the table for Adam Jury's RBI walk off single.

Adam Jury had was 4-4 on the day while Tom Yeager and Brandon Billotte each had two hits.

Herrington got the win in relief of Garrett Marsh Marsh tossed the first three innings allowing two earned runs on one hit, 6 walks and three strikeouts.  Herrington pitched the final four innings of shutout ball giving up only one hit and striking out seven.

Jarrett Fulmer suffered the loss in a complete game effort.  He allowed five runs on 12 hits walking only two and fanning 5.

Rossiter Edges NAPA

The Rossiter Miners edged NAPA Tuesday evening 10-9 at DuBois Central Catholic.  In the game there was a combined 17 hits and 19 walks.  For the winning Rossiter Miners, Jacob Stumpf led the way with a double.  Kyle Neal drove in three runs while Dakota Bish and Nick Pascuzzo each drove in two.  Dylan Kachmar got the win in relief of Matt Conrad who only lasted 1 2/3 innings.  Kachmar pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up no earned runs and only three hits.  He walked four and fanned none.  Luke Janocha got the save tossing the final 1 2/3 innings giving up one run and one hit.

For NAPA, Houston Fairman had a pair of hits which included a double and two RBI's.  Todd Schickling hit a double and drove in one.  Mark Guthridge also drove in a pair.  Josh Beimel suffered the loss in relief of started T.J. Anderson Beimel pitched three innings giving up four earned runs on two hits and three walks with one strikeout. 

NAPA Edges Grays

NAPA edged the Brookville Grays 9-8 Wednesday evening.  NAPA was led by Todd Schickling who had two hits which included a double and three RBI's.  Jordan LaBue had a pair of hits and two RBI's and Tyler Miles also had two hits.  For Brookville, Kyle Dunkle had three hits and three RBI's, Jarren Ross had two which included a double and two RBI's, and Matt Isaac doubled.

Jeremy Smith got the win on the mound for NAPA.  He tossed 5 1/3 innings giving up five runs on six hits, five walks, and six strikeouts.  Houston Fairman got the save pitching the final 1 2/3 innings giving up three runs on two hits, a walk, and a pair of strikeouts.

Nate St. Laurent suffered the loss only lasting 2 1/3 innings.  He gave up four earned runs on four hits, five walks and two strikeouts. 

Rossiter Sneaks Past Bigler

The Rossiter Miners snuck past the Bigler Buccos 3-2 Saturday evening in Rossiter.  For Rossiter, Kyle Neal and Dylan Kachmar each hit doubles.  Kachmar drove in two runs as well.  Dakota Bish also drove in a run.  For  Bigler, Paul Hahn hit a solo home run.  Kyler Kephart also drove in a run.

Janocha got the win on the mound pitching six solid innings.  He gave up two runs on 7 hits and strikingout four.  Sean Smith got the save tossing a scoreless 7th inning.

Craig Callovini took the loss for Bigler tossing three innings giving up three runs on four hits with six walks and striking out five.

DuBois Defeats NAPA

DuBois defeated NAPA 12-0 by the mercy rule Sunday evening at DuBois Central Catholic.  Sam Skraba was very efficient on the mound for the Rockets as he tossed a 5-inning complete game giving up only one hit and one walk.  Chris Szafran led the way with three hits and three RBI's.  Sean Zimmerman had a pair of hits which included a double and a pair of RBI's.  Kyle Gorby and Kevin Gnacinski also had two hits.

For NAPA, Derek Clark had the only hit.  Kevin London suffered the loss tossing three innings giving up 11 runs on 11 hits with two strikeouts.  Cory Bookhammer tossed the final two innings giving up one run on one hit.

Rossiter Defeats Bigler

Rossiter defeated Bigler 13-6 to stay unbeaten on the season Sunday evening in Bigler.  The Miners opened up the game with 2 runs in the first but Bigler answered with one of their own.  The Miners then struck for one in the 3rd and two in the 4th.  Bigler again answered with a pair in the 4th.  In the fifth, Rossiter put up a two spot and Bigler scored three to make the score 7-6 Rossiter after five.  The Miners broke it open in the 6th and 7th as they put up three each inning and held Bigler scoreless.

For Rossiter, Pete Meterko and Christian Muth each hit home runs.  Meterko ended the day with three hits.  Rick Bishop chipped in with three singles and Dakota Bish added two.  Jacob Stumpf had a pair of hits and a double and Christian Muth also doubled.

Paul  Hahn and Craig Callovini each homered for the Buccos. 

Dylan Kachmar got the win for Rossiter.  He pitched five innings giving up six runs on five hits, five walks and one strike out. Christian Muth and Nick Pascuzzo pitched the 6th and 7th and gave up no runs.

Mac Godin suffered the loss tossing 4 1/3 innings giving up 7 runs on 12 hits with one strikeout.

Sykesville Edges Denny's

The Sykesville Senators edged the visiting Denny's Beer Barrel Pub 6-4 Sunday evening.  Denny's put up single runs in the 2nd through 5th innings while Sykesville was able to have two big innings with three runs each. 

Brett Quiggle hit a home run and drove in three.  Kasey Clinton had a pair of hits and two RBI's.  Adam Fox and Jordan Weinzeral each had two hits as well.  Fox got the win in relief of the starter Brett QuiggleQuiggle threw the first four innings giving up 3 runs on 6 hits.  Fox pitched three innings giving up a solo home run to Derek Danver and striking out three.

For Denny's, Mike Davidson legged out two doubles and Danver had a solo home run.  Ben McGary took the loss.  He started and pitched four innings giving up 6 runs on eight hits.  Mike Davidson pitched the final two frames giving up 2 hits and striking out one.

Grays Edge Rockets

The Brookville Grays edged the DuBois Rockets 3-1 Wednesday evening in what turned into a pitchers duel.  The Rockets jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a Sean Zimmerman solo home run, but that is all Brookville starting pitcher Glen Stewart would allow, in fact he only allowed one more single the rest of the game.  Brookville put up three runs in the bottom of the third in which would be the difference in the game.

For Brookville, Jace Rhoades hit a double and drove in one and Kent Shick roped an RBI single.  Stewart got the win in a complete game effort.  He allowed two hits while walking none and striking out 12.

Jonny Davis had the Rockets only other hit.  Dom Kriner also pitched good enough to win but was charged with the loss.  He pitched a complete game giving up three runs on six hits while striking out four.

Rossiter Remains Undefeated

Rossiter remained unbeaten on the season by defeating the Sykesville Senators 5-1 Wednesday evening.  For Rossiter, Christian Muth pitched another gem as he only gave up one earned run in a complete game effort.  He gave up four hits, walked none, and fanned three.  Pete Meterko doubled and tripled and five different Miners drove in runs.

Kasey Clinton had a pair of hits which included a double and Jude Lander had a double and an RBI.  Jason Knarr suffered the loss for Sykesville.  Knarr pitched the whole game giving up five runs on 10 hits, no walks, and four strike outs.

Bigler Wins!!

The Bigler Buccos defeated the Brookville Grays 9-8 for their first victory of the season.  Brookville took an 8-6 lead going into the bottom of the 6th inning when Bigler tied it up at 8 after six.  Bigler was able to push across the winning run in the bottom of the 7th.

For Bigler, Paul Hahn, Coleman Kubala, and Tim Martin each hit doubles.  Tyler Jacobson, Hahn, Craig Callovini, and Martin each had two hits.  Callovini got the win in relief of started B.J. StephensStephens pitched the first 3 innings giving up six runs on seven hits.  Kurt Krise pitched one inning giving up a pair of runs on three walks and two strikeouts.  Callovini threw three innings giving up no runs on two hits and striking out three.

For the Grays, Jarren Ross, Cayliff Worling, and Nate SImpson each had two hits.  Tanner Klein hit a solo home run.  Brandon Bell took the loss in a complete game effort.  He gave up six earned runs on 13 hits and two strikeouts.

Rossiter Defeats Sykesville

The Rossiter Miners defeated the Sykesville Senators 5-0 behind a complete game shutout by Christian MuthMuth, who has pitched like an ace all year only gave up four hits, walked three and struck out two.  This was his third complete game of the season and he lowered his ERA to a whopping 0.41. 

Offensively, the Miners only scratched out five hits but they also walked eight times.  Jordan Mesoraco hit a solo home run and Hayden Muth had a pair of RBI's.

For Sykesville, Jordan Weinzeral recorded half of the hits.  Travis Menteer took the loss for the Senators.  He pitched three innings giving up 4 earned runs on three hits and six walks.  Nick Brennan and Jude Lander tossed the final four scoreless innings.

Denny's Defeats Brookville

Denny's Beer Barrel Pub defeated the Brookville Grays Tuesday evening by a score of 8-2.  Brookville scored first in the top of the 3rd when Ryan Barrett scored on an RBI walk to Jacob Nunley.  Denny's then answered with six runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.  Derek Danver led off with a single that hit starting pitcher Glen Stewart in the leg.  Stewart was unable to continue and was replaced by Ryan BarrettTom Yeager then stroked a double.  Adam Jury singled and James Zimmerman drove in two with a single of his own.  Denny's added two insurance runs in the 6th.  Danver and Jury both singled.  With no outs, they executed a double steal to perfection.  After a strike out and fly out, Phil Solley drove both home with a single. 

Mike Moyer tossed a complete game.  He gave up 2 earned runs on 4 hits, walked 7, and fanned 9.  Ryan Barret took the loss pitching one complete inning giving up 4 earned runs on 4 hits.  Nunley closed it out for Brookville.

The Rossiter Miners defeated the Brookville Grays 7-1.  Christian Muth once again threw a gem on the mound.  In his complete game effort he gave up one run on seven hits and six strikeouts.  Brandon Bell took the loss.  He pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up 6 earned runs on nine hits while fanning 4.

For Rossiter, Ty Zimmerman had three hits which included a double and two RBI's.  Jordan Mesoraco, Christian Muth, and Nick Pascuzzo each had two hits.  Mesoraco hit a double.

For Brookville, Jarren Ross had three hits and a double.  Jace Rhoades and Kyle Dunkle each doubled.

The DuBois Rockets Defeated the Bigler Buccos 5-1 last evening.  Riding the arm of Sam Skraba's complete game, the Rockets were in the drivers seat the whole game.  Skraba tossed seven innings giving up only one run on two hits, he walked four and struck out seven.  Jarrett Fulmer also tossed a complete game for Bigler.  He gave up all five earned runs on 8 hits and 7 walks.

Sean Zimmerman led the way for the Rockets with three hits.  Kevin Gnacinski had a pair of hits and three RBI's.  Tyler Jacobson and Andy Turner singled for Bigler.

The DuBois Rockets shut out the Rossiter Miners 5-0 Sunday evening.  T.J. Gornati tossed a complete game scattering only five hits while walking none and striking out 10.  Offensively, Kevin Gnacinski led the way with two hits and four RBI's.  Sean Zimmerman had a piar of hits and a double.

For Rossiter,  Kyle Neal had two hits and Christian Muth doubled.  Joe Pisano suffered the loss only lasting two innings.  He gave up four runs on four hits.  Dylan Kachmar pitched the final four innings giving up one run on two hits.

Sykesville defeats Rossiter

The Sykesville Senators defeated the Rossiter Miners 10-3 on Tuesday evening.  Rossiter jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but that would be the only time they would see the lead.  The Senators put up 1 in the second, 2 in the third, 2 in the fifth, 3 in the sixth, and 2 in the 7th.  Rossiter scored their other two in the 6th inning.

Adam Fox hit a solo home run for Sykesville.  Brett Quiggle had a pair of singles and drove in two, Jason Roman had two hits and an RBI, and Jess Cogan hit a double.  Jason Knarr pitched six strong innings giving up only three runs on five hits and striking out two.  Jude "The Goat" Lander pitched a perfect 7th inning.

For Rossiter, Pete Meterko had three hits which included a double and an RBI.  Rick Bishop also drove in two.  Christian Muth suffered the loss tossing five innings, giving up 3 earned runs on five hits and 3 walks, he struck out one.  Luke Janocha pitched the final two innings giving up 4 earned runs.

Rossiter and Bigler Win, Force series to Deciding Game 3

Rossiter Eliminates Brookville

The Rossiter Miners advanced to the semi-final round of the Federation League playoffs with a 6-0 win over the visiting Brookville Grays.  Dylan Kachmar tossed a complete game shutout and only allowed two base runners the entire game.  He struck out three.  The offense was led by Pete Meterko who had three hits, one which was a double, and two RBI's.  Jordan Mesoraco had two hits and a double and Rick Bishop had two hits and three RBI's. 

For Brookville, Brandon Bell suffered the loss tossing 4 2/3 innings giving up five earned runs on eight hits and two walks.  Kyle Dunkle singled and Nate Bonfardine walked for their only two base runners.

Rossiter will face Denny's Beer Barrel and Pub Thursday in Clearfield with the first pitch slated for 6:00. 

Brookville ends the season with a 10-17 record.

Rockets Advance to Semi's

The DuBois Rockets defeated the Bigler Buccos 10-3 Tuesday evening in Reynoldsville.  Dom Kriner pitched a complete game scattering five hits to collect the win.  Kriner gave up two earned runs, walked four, and struck out 8.  Garret Peterson let the offensive attack with a home run and three RBI's.  Kevin Gnacinski had three hits, one of which was a double, and five RBI's.  T.J. Anderson also had a pair of hits. 

For Bigler, Paul Hahn and Andy Turner each had two hits.  Turner had an RBI.  Mac Godin suffered the loss tossing 4+ innings giving up six earned runs on seven hits, three walks and one strike out.  Travis Lonjin pitched the final two innings giving up two earned runs on five hits.

DuBois moves on to face the defending champions Sykesville Senators on Thursday evening in Reynoldsville.  First pitch is slated for 6:00.

The Buccos end their season with a 8-19 record.

Rossiter Takes 3-0 Advantage

Rockets Defeat Senators 5-3

The DuBois Rockets defeated the Sykesville Senators Tuesday evening at DuBois Central Catholic.  Kevin Gnacinski tossed a complete game to earn the win.  Gnacinski scattered eight hits while walking two and striking out two.  Sean Zimmerman delivered a big three run home run in the third to boost the Rocket offense.  T.J. Anderson had three hits and and RBI and Dom Kriner stroked two doubles.

For Sykesville, Brett Quiggle pitched a complete game in the losing effort.  He gave up eight hits and three walks while striking out three.  Nick Brennan hit a solo home run and a double.  Kasey Clinton had two hits and an RBI. 

The series continues with game five Wednesday evening in Reynoldsville.  First pitch is slated for 6:00.

Rossiter Sweeps Denny's!!!!

The Rossiter Miners defeated Denny's Beer Barrel Pub 2-1 Tuesday evening to complete a four game sweep and advance to the Federation League Finals.  Led by strong pitching, Rossiter put up a pair of runs in the first and that was all they would need to win.  Luke Janocha started and pitched five strong innings to earn the win.  Janocha gave up one run on two hits, three walks and striking out one.  Christian Muth pitched the final two innings to earn the save. Christian Muth had two hits which included a double and an RBI.  Pete Meterko and Jordan Mesoraco also doubled.  Rick Bishop drove in Rossiter's other run. 

For Denny's, Mike Moyer was also just as good on the mound.  Moyer tossed a complete game giving up two runs on seven hits and two walks, he struck out four.  Adam Jury doubled and Brandon Billotte drove in a run for the offense.

Denny's finishes up their inaugural season with a 18-10 record.  Rossiter will move on to face the winner of the Sykesville/DuBois series and a date and time to be announced.

The Sykesville Senators defeated the DuBois Rockets 7-5 on Wednesday to put themselves one game away from their second straight trip to the Fed League Finals.  Jesse Bosnik led the way with three hits and two RBI's.  Adam Fox hit a pair of doubles, and Kasey Clinton roped an RBI double.  Jason Knarr pitched into the 6th inning to earn the win.  He gave up two earned runs on nine hits, one walk, and three strikeouts.  Adam Fox earned the save pitching the final 1 1/3 innings.

For the Rockets, Kyle Gorby had a pair of hits which included a homer and two RBI's.  Matt Zimmerman had two hits which included a double and Garret Peterson had a double and two RBI's.  T.J. Gornati suffered the loss in a complete game effort.  Gornati gave up five earned runs on ten hits, two walks, and four strikeouts.

Sykesville Advances To Finals

The Sykesville Senators of Reynoldsville advanced to the Federation League finals by defeating the DuBois Rockets 4-0 Sunday evening in Reynoldsville.  Nick Brennan pitched a complete game shutout for the Senators scattering five hits while walking none and striking out four.  Brett Quiggle hit a two run home run in the 2nd inning to lead the offense.  Adam Fox had a pair of hits and Brennan doubled and drove in a run.

For the Rockets, T.J. Gornati pitched a complete game in a losing effort.  He gave up three earned runs on five hits, he hit one batter and struck out four.  Player/Coach Sean Zimmerman led the way with a pair of singles.

The Senators advance to the Finals for the second straight year and will take on the Rossiter Miners Tuesday in Reynoldsville.  First pitch is slated for 6PM.

Finals Preview

The Rossiter Miners and Sykesville Senators are slated to lock horns for the 2013 Federation League title beginning Tuesday in Reynoldsville.  Sykesville is returning to the finals for the second consecutive season after winning the 2012 crown by defeating the Brookville Grays in seven games.  Led by league MVP Adam Fox, the Senators offer a potent offense to try to contain.  Fox (.468), Jesse Bosnik (.483), Kasey Clinton (.446), and Nick Brennen (.391) are able to drive in runners at any time.  These four hitters have a combined 18 home runs and 78 RBI's between them.  Brett Quiggle (.333 5 HR), Jordan Weinzierl (.360), Jason Roman (.303), Jude Lander (.266 6 2B), Jon Weber (.250), and Jess Cogan round out the Senator potent offense.  Four of these hitters bat from the left side which gives the Senators a huge advantage when playing in their home park. 

The starting pitching for Sykesville has come on as the season goes.  Nick Brennan has a pair of wins in the semi-finals against DuBois.  Jason Knarr has been a work horse tossing 46 innings on the year.  Brett Quiggle, Dan Wascovich, and Kevin London round out the starting staff.  Sykesville is also deep in relievers as they offer Jude "The GOAT" Lander, Weinzierl, and Fox.  Fox  had a team high 3 saves this year.

For the Miners, they have breezed through the playoffs thus far after a sweep of top seeded Denny's out of Clearfield.  The Miners bring a very strong pitching staff to the field.  2013 Pitcher of the Year Christian Muth leads the staff with 5 wins and a 1.71 ERA.  Braedon Pennington, who pitched sparingly throughout the regular season, has come on in the playoffs as he has 2 wins and a 1.10 ERA.  Pennington has struck out 18 in 16 1/3 innings.  Sean Smith, Luke Janocha, and Dylan Kachmar round out the rest of the pitching staff.  As a team, Rossiter has thrown 11 complete games this year.

Offensively, the Miners will come at the Senators with a combination of young and veteran hitters.  Pennington (.452 3 HR), Jordan Mesoraco (.436), Muth (.353), and Kyle Neal (.316), and Jacob Stumpf (.316) lead the youth movement while Pete Meterko (.395 3 HR), Rick Bishop (.329 18 RBI), and Dakota Bish (.216 10 RBI) lead the veterans.  As a whole, the Miners are hitting .284 as a team and have 44 extra base hits.

The finals are a best of seven format with games this Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday.  If a winner is not decided after the first four games then the series continues onto Sunday and Tuesday with a game 7 date of next Wednesday if needed.  All weekday games are scheduled to start at 6PM and weekend games are scheduled for 5:30.

Sykesville Takes Game 1

The Sykesville Senators defeated the Rossiter Miners 6-3 in game one of the Federation League finals.  Jason Knarr pitched a complete game three hitter to lead the way for the Senators.  He gave up two earned runs on three walks, hit two batters, and fanned two.  Kasey Clinton hit a solo home run to lead the offense.  Brett Quiggle had a pair of hits and an RBI and Jude Lander had a pair of RBI's.

For Rossiter, Jordan Mesoraco, Pete Meterko, and Luke Janocha had the three hits.  Ty Zimmerman and Janocha each drove in runs.  Sean Smith suffered the loss with a complete game effort.  He tossed all six innings giving up seven hits, four walks, hit one batter and struck out a pair. 

The series continues this evening in Rossiter with a 6PM first pitch.

Rossiter Outduels Bigler 2-1

Rossiter was able to squeak out a win Saturday evening against the visiting Bigler Buccos 2-1.  Travis Lonjin and Joe Pisano eached piched a complete game in a classic pitchers duel.  Rossiter scored both of their runs in the bottom of first inning.  With one out, Kyle Neal walked.  Pete Meterko followed with a groundout.  Braedon Pennington then drove home Neal with a single.  Pennington was then able to move to second on a wild pitch and with Rick Bishop batting, he drove in Pennington with a single of his own.

In the top of the 7th, Andy Turner led off the inning with a single.  J.J. Bacher also singled putting runners on 1st and second with no outs.  Stephens then hit a single driving in Turner to make the score 2-1.  On that play, Bacher was trying to advance on the throw to the plate but Rossiter catcher Dakota Bish cut the ball off and made the throw to 3rd catching Bacher in a run down.  He was tagged out for the first out of the inning.  With one out, Stephens was caught leaning too far off first base and was unable to get back as Pisano threw a pick off to first for the second out.  Pisano was then able to strike out the final batter of the game to wrap up the threat.

For Rossiter, Pisano threw the complete game giving up one earned run on four hits.  He walked five and struck out four.

Lonjin was equally as tough as he gave up both runs on four hits, three walks and four strike outs.

Brookville Knocks Off Denny's

The Brookville Grays defeated Denny's Beer Barrel Pub 8-2 Thursday evening at the Clearfield Area High School Sports Complex.  Glen Stewart kept the Denny's bats in check with 5 2/3 innings of two run ball.  He scattered nine hits and fanned a pair.  Brandon Bell finished hte game in relief giving up no hits and striking out three. 

Brookville got on the board in the 2nd with three runs on an RBI single from Jacob Nunley and a 2-RBI single from Jace Rhoads.  In the 4th, Brookville was able to score 5 runs on 6 hits.  Nunley, Jarren Ross, and Rhoads all had RBI sigles in the attack and Dan Buzzard finished the flurry by legging out a 2-RBI triple.  That was more than enough runs for Stewart who was able to work out of bases loaded jams in the 1st and 4th innings giving up no runs each time.

Denny's were able to chase Stewart from the game in the 6th after he gave up back to back singles to Ben McGary and James Zimmerman followed by a 2-RBI double by Derek Danver.

Mike Moyer took the loss throwing only 3 1/3 innings giving up seven earned runs on seven hits with four walks and one strikeout.  Mike Davidson finished it out tossing the final 3 2/3 innings giving up one run and fanning seven.

Denny's Defeats Sykesville

Denny's Beer Barrel Pub defeated the Sykesville Senators 7-1 Saturday evening at the Clearfield High School.  Denny's was able to grab a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning when Bart McGary drove home Derek Danver with a single.  In the 3rd, Denny's put up a 3 spot highlighted by Adam Jury's two run home run.  Sykesville was able to get on the board in the top of the 6th.  Ryan Gordon singled, followed by a Jesse Bosnik double.  Adam Fox was then intentionally walked to load the bases.  Kasey Clinton then hit a sacrifice fly to break the shutout but Tyler Noel got the next hitter, Jon Weber to fly out to the second baseman.  Denny's then added four insurance runs in the bottom half of the inning highlighted by RBI singles by Tom Yeager and Adam Jury. 

For Denny's, Jury had a pair of hits and 4 RBI's.  Brett Sutika, Cory Bailor, Tom Yeager, Bart McGary and Derek Danver all had two hits.

Jesse Bosnik led Sykesville with a pair of hits which included a double. 

Tyler Noel got the win on the mound tossing six strong innings, giving up only one run, and fanning 5.  Ben McGary pitched a scoreless 7th.

Dan Waskovich threw a complete game for Sykesville.  He gave up 7 earned runs on 13 hits and struck out 4.

Denny's Knocks Off NAPA

Denny's Beer Barrel Pub defeated NAPA Wednesday evening in Clearfield by a score of 9-1.  Denny's got on the board in the first inning after Brandon Billotte walked, was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and then scored on an Adam Jury single.  In the third, T.J. Anderson walked for NAPA and advanced to second on a past ball.  He then was plated on an RBI single by Houston Fairman.  Denny's broke it open in the bottom of the third by putting up five runs highlighted by a 2 RBI single by Cory Bailor.  Denny's added three more in the bottom of the 4th to wrap up the scoring. 

For Denny's, Adam Jury had three hits that included a double and an RBI.  Corey Bailor drove in three with three hits which included a double.  Derek Danver and Tom Yeager each had a pair of hits.

For NAPA, Fairman had the lone RBI and Sam Gardner and Jordan LaBue also had hits.

Mike Moyer got the win for Denny's tossing 5 strong innings scattering three hits while fanning 8.  Chad Zurat pitched the final frame striking out 3.

Houston Fairman took the loss pitching 2 1/3 innings giving up six runs on six hits striking out a pair.  Jeremy Smith threw the final 3 2/3 innings giving up 2 runs and fanning four.

NAPA hosts Sykesville Thursday at 6:00 while Denny's hosts Sykesville on Sunday at 5:30.

Rossiter Knocks Off Sykesville

The Rossiter Miners handed the Sykesville Senators their first loss of the season on Wednesday evening in Reynoldsville.  Sykesville took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning but Rossiter answered back in the top of the 3rd with three runs of their own.  Sykesville took the lead again in the bottom of the 4th but Rossiter once again answered with a four spot in the top of the 5th, a lead Rossiter would not lose.  The Miners tacked on three more in the 7th to wrap up all scoring and won the game 11-5.

For Rossiter, Braedon Pennington hit a solo home run.  Jacob Stumpf, Kyle Neal, Kyle Mann, and Dakota Bish each chipped in a pair of hits.  Pete Meterko, Stumpf, and Bish each drove in two.

For Sykesville, Brett Quiggle went deep and drove in three.  Kasey Clinton hit his fifth double of the season and drove in a run.  Jess Cogan chipped in with a pair of hits.

Sean Smith got the win tossing 4 innings of relief.  He surrendered 5 runs on 8 hits and struck out 6.  Pennington was the starter, he pitched the first and last innings of the game striking out 4 and giving up no hits.  Kyle Mann pitched a scoreless 6th.

Kasey Clinton suffered the loss for Sykesville throwing only 2 innings.  He gave up 1 earned run and walked 5 while striking out 1.  Jordan Weinzeral threw two innings giving up 5 runs and striking out one and Jude Lander tossed the final three frames giving up 5 runs on 5 hits with 4 walks and striking out two.

Rossiter Defeats Napa 9-6

The Rossiter Miners defeated NAPA 9-6 on Monday evening at Shaffer Field in Rossiter.  NAPA was able to jump out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the third but Rossiter responded with 2 in the bottom half.  In the 4th, NAPA scored another run before Rossiter took the lead for good by scoring 4 in the bottom half. The Miners added one more in the 5th and two in the 6th.  NAPA put a small rally together in the 7th but came up short only scoring a pair.

For Rossiter, Kyle Mann doubled and drove in three runs.  Jacob Stumpf and Nick Pascuzzo each had a pair of hits and two runs batted and Rick Bishop chipped in two hits and an RBI.  Sam Gardner led NAPA with his first home run of the season and three RBI's.  Houston Fairman had a pair of hits and an RBI and Derek Clark also drove in a run.

Matt Conrad got the win on the mound for the Miners as he tossed four innings giving up four runs on two hits while fanning one.  Dylan Kachmar pitched next and gave up a pair of runs and got in to some trouble until they brought in Kyle Mann for the save.

Sam Gardner suffered the loss for NAPA.  In four innings of work, Gardner gave up 6 runs on nine hits and struck out three.  T.J. Anderson gave up a run in an inning of work and Cory Bookhammer surrendered a pair of runs in the 6th.

Both teams are back in action Wednesday as NAPA travels to Clearfield to take on Denny's and Rossiter travels to Reynoldsville to take on Sykesville.  Both games are slated for a 6:00 PM first pitch.

Sykesville Improves to 2-0

The Sykesville Senators improved to 2-0 on the season with a 9-5 victory over the visiting Brookville Grays.  Sykesville scored 8 runs in the second inning by sending 12 batters to the plate.  Both Andrew and Todd Gordon had 2-RBI singles.  The Sykesville 2-9 hitters all reached base consecutively and scored.  Kasey Clinton hit two doubles and drove in three while Jordan Weinzeral and Adam Fox each had a double. 

Jason Knarr got the win on the mound tossing 5 1/3 innings giving up 4 earned runs on 6 hits and 7 strike outs.  Adam Fox pitched the final 1 2/3 innings giving up 2 hits and striking out 3.

For Brookville, Kent Shick and Dan Buzzard each hit two double each and Buzzard drove in 2.  Nathan St. Laurent suffered the loss on the mound.  He was unable to get out of the second inning giving up 8 earned runs on 6 hits and 3 walks.  He struck out two.  Ryan Barrett threw 3 2/3 shutout ball with 7 strikeouts.  Nate Simpson tossed the final fram giving up one run and striking out one.

Both teams are back in action Wednesday as Sykesville hosts Rossiter at 6:00 and Brookville hosts Bigler at 7:00.

The DuBois Rockets opened up the 2013 season in dramatic fashion as T.J. Gornati and Garret Peterson combined to throw a no-hitter in a 1-0 win over the visiting Brookville Grays.  Gornati pitched the first 6 innings giving up 3 walks and striking out 11.  Peterson pitched the 7th for his first save of the year fanning 1 and walking no one.  Brandon Bell suffered the loss tossing a complete game 4 hitter giving up 1 unearned run and striking out 7.

For the Rockets, Chris Szafran and Peterson each had two hits and a double and Szafran scored the games only run.

Both teams are back in action Tuesday as the Brookville Grays travel to the defending champions Sykesville Senators and DuBois hosts Dennys Beer Barrel Pub.  Both games are set to start at 6:00 PM.

Sykesville's Bats Come Alive Late Against Bigler

The Sykesville Senators opened up their 2013 campaign with a lopsided 11-2 victory at Bigler.  The game was a tight 4-2 until the Senator bats woke up in the top of the 6th inning with a 7 run explosion.  For the Senators, Jesse Bosnik and Adam Fox hit a home run and a double each and drove in 4 and 3 respectively.  Kasey Clinton chipped in with a pair of doubles.  Jason Roman also doubled and drove in three.

For the Buccos, Coleman Kubala had a pair of hits while Jarrett Fulmer drove in a run in the losing effort.

Brett Quiggle got the win on the mound for the Senators pitching five innings, giving up 3 hits and 2 earned runs while fanning 5 and walking 4.  Jude Lander pitched the final two innings of hitless baseball.

For the Buccos, Kurt Krise took the loss giving up 4 earned runs on 4 hits in 5 innings pitched.  He walked 4 and struck out 7.  J.J. Bacher gave up 4 earned runs in only 2/3 on an inning and Mac Godin finisned out the game with 1 1/3 innings pitched and giving up only 1 run.

Sykesville is back in action on Tuesday when they host the Brookville Grays and Bigler hits the field again on Wednesday when they travel to Showers Field to take on the Rockets.  Both games are scheduled to start at 6:00 PM.

Rossiter Spoils Denny's Debut

The Rossiter Miners defeated Denny's Beer Barrel Pub 10-4 Sunday evening at Shaffer Field in Rossiter.  Rossiter jumped out on top early plating 6 base runners in the bottom of the 1st inning.  They then put up two in the 2nd, and one in the third before Denny's were able to put a 4 spot on in the top of the 4th.  Rossiter tacked on an extra insurance run in the bottom of the 5th to wrap up the scoring.

Kyle Neal led Rossiter with four hits which included a triple and a pair of runs batted in, he also scored four runs.  Braedon Pennington had three hits, one of which was a double and a pair of RBI's.  Kyle Mann chipped in with a pair of hits and an RBI. 

For Denny's, Adam Jury had three hits, Brett Sutika roped a double and drove in a run.  Curtis Collins also added a double.

Pennington got the win on the mound tossing four innings giving up a pair of earned runs while striking out four.  Mann and Sean Smith pitched the final three frames.

Garrett Marsh took the loss for Denny's.  He got battered around for 8 earned runs on 8 hits and four walks while striking out none over 1 1/3.  Tyler Noel wrapped the game up for Denny's pitching 4 2/3 innings giving up 3 earned runs and striking out 7.

Both teams are back in action Tuesday.  Denny's will travel to DuBois and Rossiter will travel to NAPA.  Both games are slated to start at 6:00 PM.
