Subject: GCAA Softball Schedule Updates for March and Preliminary season details

MARCH 14, 2017 Updated GCAA SOFTBALL Schedule:

ALL COACHES MEETING:  Thursday, March 16^th, St Pauls, next to the Garden City Rec Dept office 7:30-8:30 PM

The following clinics are at ST PAULS GYM and are sponsored and hosted by GCAA Softball (K-1 won’t begin until April 1):

Thursday March 9^th:  7:30 PM to 8:30 PM  4^th-5^th, 6^th-7^th Graders CLINIC with Garden City Varsity High School Players.

Thursday March 16^th: 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM  COACHES CLINIC ONLY.  ALL COACHES ALL GRADES

Thursday March 23^rd: 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM  2^nd-3^rd  grade Players Clinic with Garden City Varsity High School Players and MEET THE COACHES.  4^th-5^th players (makeup missed clinic 1) 

Outdoor pitching and throwing Clinics for 2-6th will continue in April and May 5-7pm window on Tuesdays at Stratford school.  Times and dates to be confirmed later.

April 1 SEASON BEGINS!!!

K-1 Clinics: Monday Evenings at Nassau Haven Park (typically 5-6 and 6-7pm as daylight permits, final times TBD)

2-3^rd  Grade League:  Monday and Friday Evenings at Nassau Haven Park (typically 5-6 and 6-7pmas daylight permits, final times TBD)

4^th-5^th Grade League:  Thursdays and Saturdays

·         Saturday Games begin 4/1, Games will be 10, 12, 2 or 4pm depending on Fields and Schedules.  MOST will be afternoons.

·         Thursday Evening Games begin 4/27, and are 6pm to sunset, max 2 hour 15 minute games hard stop)

6^th-7^th Grade League: Fridays and Sundays

o   Sunday Games begin 4/1, Games will be 2 or 4pm depending on Fields and Schedules. 

o   Friday Evening Games begin 4/27, and are 6pm to sunset, max 2 hour 15 minute games hard stop)

May 20^th: ALL STAR GAME WEEKEND Leagues 4-5^th Grade and 6^th-7^th grade

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND NO GAMES (Except rain out possible make ups)

May 29^th Annual Memorial Day GCAA Softball Outing for grades 4^th and UP.  Tickets $45 per person includes food.  Email Coach Drew (me) if interested.

June 11^th: SEASON ENDS ALL LEAGUES

June 15^th  4^th-5^th and 6^th-7^th grade POST SEASON TOURNAMENT GAMES

Season ending can and will likely move around, depending on how our weather is this Spring

Competitive League and Team requiring TRYOUTS

There will a Competitive Tryouts Tentatively scheduled for April 29^th April 30^th  for a new level of competitive play for our 4^th-5^th and 6^th-7^th grade teams.  These teams will play a unique series of additional games in May and June and will also represent Garden City in the Little League World Series Softball Tournament that starts in late June and extends into July.  As this team is limited in size, players who try out for this team will need to commit with very best efforts to make the games.
