25 HR DECISION MAKING PROGRAM

This 25 hour program consist of five (5) elements, with age-appropriate activities. Such as: What's Important to You?, Understanding Your Feelings (emotional Intelligence), Problem Solving (addressing high-risk people, places, things, situations, thoughts, and feelings), Risk Factors, Protective Factors.

In Summary, the curriculm should enable the youth to recognize and successfully address the most common and most critical risk factors they will face. To do this, it should give them the tools to identify problems. This including problem solving, on age-appropriate problems based on those risky or dangerous situations. A key element, as with the learning of any new skill, is the opportunity to develop mastery through practice. A critical goal of the program is realistic "self-efficacy." The youth: 1. Can identify a high risk, danger or problem situation. 2. knows effective ways to deal with this situation. 3. Has confidence that they will work. 4. Has practiced addressing these issues over and over again.

GHYF GANG ISSUES AND CONSEQUNCES

GHYF will present Gang Issues and Consequences workshop. This workshop will describe 10 individual gang issue's presented by former gang members in their own words. Every participant will do workbook activities that address each gang issue and lead to action plans to minimize those risk. Such Gang Issues presented in this workshop will be: Initiation, Selling Drugs, Negative Effects on Family, Repeat Offenders, Exposure to Violence, Friends Get you into Trouble, Getting Busted, Locked up, Advice and Getting Out of the Gang.

Youth will participate in small group activities designed to increase peer support, Enhance Life Skills, Self-Respect, and Self-Esteem and strengthen leadership. Ultimately, they become positive role models in their communities help their peers.

GHYF "YOUTH AT RISK"

The GHYF will present Youth at Risk workshop. This workshop will describe 14 individual risk factors presented by former gang members in their own words. Every participant will do workbook activities that address each risk factor and lead to action plans to minimize those risk.

The expected outcomes include improved grades, communication skills and to see improved school attendance and greater conflidence in their academic abilities and social skills. Also to prevent gang involvement and criminal activities.

GHYF TIGER WOODS ACTION AGENDA

Germantown Hardknocks Youth Foundation (GHYF) will present The Tiger Woods Action Plan. The Action Plan will generate measurable improvements in students self-esteem, goal-setting abilities and attitudes toward learning. The program helps inspire and guide youth in the belief that they can act on their dreams, make a difference in their community and realize their potential, one step at a tme. It also put priority on Character Development, Volunteer Service and Career Exploration. Every participant will do activities and group discussions. Each group will range from Elementary, Middle and High School youth.

GHYF WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Germantown Hardknocks Youth Foundation will present "WHAT DO YOU THINK?" activities and workshop. These program activities will facilitate participation, group cooperation and self-disclosure. The activities are very effective cognitive restructing resources. These activities will help prevent gang involvement, peer-pressure and criminal activities. Which will lead to positive development outcomes that will prepare them for life.
