Fall Ball Rules and Info

Divisions:

Single "A" (coach pitch)

This division emphasizes instruction rather than competition. Players will build upon the fundamentals learned in T-Ball and expand their knowledge with a beginning course in pitching and catching techniques on a slightly smaller than regulation field. This division uses a continuous batting order, free substitutions, no standings and no playoffs. Coaches do all pitching. Players are randomly assigned to teams; however, if possible, an effort will be made to place players together if it will help parents with coaching duties and/or car-pooling.

(player pitch/coach pitch)

AAA & Majors Fall Ball Rules

Offensive Line Up: All players will bat in a continuous batting order.

Run Limit: There is a five-run limit per inning, with the exception of the last inning. The last inning which will be determined by the umpire or managers due to darkness, weather, or time, this inning will be an unlimited run inning.

2 hour time limit per game – unless agreed upon by both managers, to play longer, completing the games, especially on the weekends.

Catchers: In order to speed up play, at anytime with two (2) outs, you must pinch run for your catcher. This will allow time for your catcher to get the gear on for the next half inning.

Pitching: Pitchers are permitted to pitch only two (2) innings per game.  In majors division only: players who are 12 year olds for baseball next spring can only be used as pitchers in a maximum of 4 of the 6 innings.

Stealing:  stealing is permitted once the ball has crosses the plate.  In AAA only: there is a maximum of 5 steals allowed per inning, and you may not steal home.

Pre Game: Home team will have infield practice from twenty (20) to ten (10) minutes before game time, and the visiting team will have the field for fielding practice ten (10) minutes prior to game time.

Makeups: Standing are not being kept and Make up games are not necessary.  If both teams can arrange a makeup, please do.  Fields are available Sundays.

Umpiring: can be done either from behind the plate or at the pitchers mound. PLEASE use fall ball as learning time for parents/volunteers to become umpires as well.  If there is no umpire for the whole game, then teams can rotate umpiring, for when they are on defense. Having the gear on and umpiring from behind the plate is best for accuracy.

Tournament Play: As discussed, we hope to offer a wrap up tournament the last week of play. This will allow a more competitive, regular season atmosphere for those wishing to participate. This will allow us to provide the kids a chance to showcase their new found skills.
