A SOFTBALL PLAYER'S PRAYER
Help me to pick the pitch that's right
Then let me knock it out of sight.
Then let me run with deer-like grace
Don't let me miss but tag first base
Then on to second, stay with me, Lord,
Cause this one out, we can't afford.
Then let me zoom like a flying bird
Right down the line and on to third
Then let me slide with feet out-thrust
Across home plate in the swishing dust
BUT FIRST OF ALL, DEAR LORD, I PRAY
JUST TELL THE COACH TO LET ME PLAY!
JUST A LITTLE GIRL
She stands at the plate with her heart pounding fast,The bases are loaded; the die has been cast,Mom and Dad can't help her; she stands all alone,A hit at this moment would bring a run home,The ball nears the plate; she swings and she misses,There’s a groan from the crowd with some boos and some hisses, “Strike the bum out!” a thoughtless voice cries,The game’s no longer fun, and tears fill her eyes,Remember, she’s just a little girl who stands all alone So open your heart and give her a break. For it’s moments like this, there's more than a game at stake. Keep this in mind when you hear someone forget,She is just a little GIRL, and not a grown up yet.
SOFTBALL HUMOR
One morning a mother and father were making breakfast for their daughter.
Suddenly, their daughter bursts into the kitchen.
"Careful!" she said, "CAREFUL! Put in some more butter! Oh my GOODNESS! You're cooking too many at once.
The mother and father stared at her. "What in the world is wrong with you? You think we don't know how to fry a couple of eggs?" The daughter calmly replied, "I just wanted to show you what it feels like when I'm playing softball."
