Frequently Asked Questions
(Cheerleading)

  1. I signed my daughter up for cheerleading but am concerned about the practice schedule.  When are practices held?

A.       Practices are held at the discretion of the coach.  In general, most coaches practice 2 days a week. This does vary depending on the age level.

Q. Where are practices held?

A. Again, this is at the discretion of the coach.  The practice places

available to the league are as follows:  the grounds of the Minisink

Q. Can I get a refund if my daughter decides she does not want to

     cheer anymore?

  1. In general, refunds are not given.  However, every case is handled

differently and you will need to contact the director for more details.

Q. My daughter would like to try-out for the competition team. What

happens if she does not make it?

  1. If your daughter does not make the competition team, she will be placed on the appropriate youth team.  For example, if she is in the 6th grade and does not make the competition team, she will be placed on a Division 2 team for the youth season.

Q. Can I keep the uniform?

A. No.  Uniforms are the property of the MVYFL and are to be cleaned

    keep.

     Q. Are the coaches certified?

     A. Our cheerleading coaches are not required to be certified.  However,

the MVYFL does require that all coaches are fingerprinted and

approved.  In addition coaches do attend clinics.

      Q. When do practices start?

      A. Practices can start August 1st.  Again, this is at the discretion of the coach.

      Q. How will I hear from the coach?

      A. After signing your daughter up, the coach will contact you via the mail or with a

phone call.  You should hear from the coach in June.

     Q. Why does my daughter need a physical to cheer?

     A. For insurance purposes, it is required that all participants have a physical and/or a

doctor’s note stating that she is physically fit to cheer. This MUST be turned in to the

coach by August 1st in order for your daughter to participate in practice.
