No Modified (Junior High School) Football? No Problem...

In light of the 2012 cuts to the modified football program at the junior high school level, the Wappingers Indians would like to outline reasons to consider our program as a viable alternative for the those interested in football:

  1. We were founded specifically on the model that exists in the other Division I school districts that our two high school teams play on a yearly basis (i.e., Brewster, Carmel, Cross River, Hudson Valley, Mahopac, Somers, Southern Dutchess and Yorktown); in essence, our league works as a feeder program for WCSD high school programs;
  2. The Wappingers Indians coaching philosophy is based on that of the Ketcham Varsity system;
  3. We currently have the necessary coaching staff in place, including local area (award-winning) high school coaches;
  4. Your children will play the same opponents they'll face when they get to the high school level;
  5. We are a grade-based, age-protected, no weight restrictions program. There are no tryouts and everyone plays.

We hope that you consider the points outlined above when deciding on a football program for your child(ren).

Coaches

Our football program will be run similarly to that of our Division 1 opponents. We will be implementing Ketcham Varsity Football system.

Our coaching staff has a wide range of football coaching experience from youth to High School level. Each head coach has a dedicated coaching staff working with them to establish the fundamentals of football that our children crave. Our coaches will rely on the experience of our Commissioner, Vincent Dicairano, who will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations. Our on-the-field practices are supervised by our league VP, Chris Thomison, who has many years of experience as a successful youth football head coach. This will result in a comprehensive, cohesive and consistent program at each level of competition.

If you are interested in becoming an assistant football coach for the 2016 season, please contact Mike Marsala for coaching opportunities, expectations and requirements.
