The weekend was filled with excitement from the skills competition Friday to the two Classic games Saturday. It was a great atmosphere as the East team defeated the West team 21-8 and the North team defeated the South team 17-10 Saturday at Monaca. Thanks to everyone who attended, participated and volunteered their time to make the weekend exciting for the kids. Pictures will soon be posted here. Farm Lg Playoff Bracket

The minor league championship will go through Freedom as the Freedom Sharpless Dentistry team defeated New Brighton Craig's Hardware to advance to the Minor League championship game. Because they came through the winners bracket, Freedom will have home field for the first game, which is tentatively scheduled for June 28th. Should they lose, it would switch to the other team's field for the second and final game. Congratulations to Freedom..you are one step away!

Conway punched their ticket to the Little League Championship game by defeating Beaver C&S in eight innings 10-6 Friday night in Beaver. After completing 6 innings tied at four, Conway, led by Nick Henderson's two-run home run, exploded for six runs in the top of the eighth to go ahead 10-4. Beaver would not quit and managed two runs in the bottom of the eighth before Conway shut down the comeback. Conway will now face Rochester in Rochester on Monday where they will have to win to force a second championship game in Conway. If that sounds familiar, it is because that is exactly what happened last season as Conway won two consecutive games and the championship. Rochester will be looking for revenge and their first BCYBL Little League title.

Friday nights rain stopped the New Brighton Craig's Hardware vs. Monaca Turners game after one and a half innings. Saturday's continuation proved to be worth the wait as Monaca staged a huge comeback in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring four runs with two outs to defeat New Brighton 9-8 at Monaca. NB had a 8-5 lead into the bottom of the sixth. Monaca's first two batters made outs to bring up the top of the lineup. five consecutive batters reached base with Joey Himes game-winning hit scoring Chase Makray all the way from first base to give Monaca the win and a championship match-up with Freedom on Tuesday at Freedom. Freedom, undefeated in the playoffs, will have to be defeated twice.

After reaching the Little League championship game each of the last two seasons and coming up short, Rochester had something to prove this year. By drawing the number 1 seed and home field advantage, the road to the championship had to go through Rochester. Standing in their way was Conway, who defeated them last year to win their first championship. After giving up four runs in the first inning, Conway looked poised to repeat. But Rochester slammed the door as Daunte Hill and Hunter Valent held Conway scoreless over the final five innings. Chad Meny had a couple hits and scored a pair of runs including a steal of home. Hits by Hochimo Ptomey, Valent and others also helped the Rochester offense score six runs for a 6-4 victory giving Rochester their first BCYBL Little League championship. Congratulations to Coach Al Hill and the Rochester team on a great season

Chad Meny had a couple of extrabase hits and scored a pair of runs, including a steal of home. Valent & Chimo Ptomey had key hits as Rochester scored six unanswered runs for a 6-4 victory over Conway to capture their first BCYBL Little League Championship. Freedom Oxford Realty defeated the New Brighton Lions Club 8-0 Tuesday in Freedom to earn a chance at the Farm League championship versus Monaca Tuma's Landscaping at Monaca at 6pm on Wednesday.

Final Minor League Bracket
As we approach the 4th of July, it is fitting that Freedom was part of the championship pairing for the Minor League title. A matchup vs. Monaca Turners would be a difficult task as Monaca was on a recent roll in the playoffs. Both teams traded runs in the first inning. Freedom then took a 3-1 lead after 2 innings. But Monaca would not give up as they too scored a pair of runs on Joey Himes's single tying the game at 3. But Freedom matched Monaca's two runs with two more of their own following a 2-run inside-the-park-homer by Noah Yeck. Freedom built their lead to 7-4 heading into the sixth inning. Monaca was looking for the same magic that they had in their comeback victory to get to the championship. Monaca scored two runs and had the bases loaded with two outs before a ground out in the infield squelched the comeback and, when the dust settled, Freedom's Sharpless Dentistry was the BCYBL's Minor League champions. Congratulations to Coach Brian Yeck and the entire Freedom team on a great season.

Monaca Tuma's went through the regular season with the top record, randomly drew the number one seed and rolled through the winners bracket in the playoffs including a win over Freedom Oxford Realty. But Freedom put the brakes on that roll by defeating Tuma's at Monaca in an exciting 9-8 game at Monaca. The score was tied at zero heading into the bottom of the third inning. Monaca then opened up the offense with Hunter Mitchell's three-run triple and Hunter Viscuso's RBI single that gave Monaca a 5-0 lead after three. But Freedom responded with a six-run fourth inning highlighted by Reiker Welling's RBI double and RBI singles from Andrew Hodnick, Brandon Pratte, Jay Hessler and Alex Bearer. Monaca came back with a Brandon Graham two-run double in the fifth inning putting Monaca back on top 8-6. Freedom answered again with Connor Shipman's game-tying two-run double and another run in the top of the sixth for a 9-8 lead. Drayk Monac's third hit of the game brought back the top of the order. But Freedom got a ground ball with two on and two outs and were able to hold off the Monaca rally for the 9-8 victory. The final game will be Thursday at Green Valley Park at 6pm between Monaca and Freedom for the Farm League championship.

Freedom's Oxford Realty's momentum from Wednesday nights victory at Monaca carried over in a big way as they jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning Thursday and cruised to a 14-3 mercy rule victory to give Freedom Oxford the 2011 BCYBL Farm League championship.
