Titan Baseball Families,
It seems like yesterday we were celebrating the end of our 2017 season and now I am writing you regarding the upcoming 2018 season. Time flies when you’re having fun I guess! As I started to plan out the new Titan Baseball Season, I began to think about the former players that I have been so blessed to coach these past 5 years and what they have meant to this program. It has been a true honor to coach each and every one of these past 5 teams, each one having their own identity, and each one helping build this program into what it is today. Our program, thanks to many great players, has been to the playoffs 4 out of 5 years, making it to the State Semifinals last season. Our team’s success has seen 17 players from the past 5 years go on to play collegiately at Utah, Paradise Valley CC, Mesa CC, Cornell, Scottsdale CC, Cal Poly San Louis Obispo, LSU, Arizona Christian, Shepherd University, Phoenix College, and Gateway CC, just to name a few! We have had a 7th round draft pick, who is currently playing in the Texas Rangers organization, and we have had 3 consecutive Region Player of the Year awards. We currently host a nationally recognized tournament, The Boras Classic, which ESPN televises the championship game from our field! We have also been recognized as having the 2017 Rocky Mountain Region Field of the Year! This award also puts us in the running for National Field of the Year, which will be decided in December! It has been an honor to be the Head Baseball Coach at Arcadia and we will continue to strive for excellence on and off the field.

However, we are not satisfied! Making it to the state semifinals is great, but we want that ultimate prize, State Champions! In order for that to happen the program needs to continue to grow. I have plans to improve the view from the stands by removing the chain link fencing, and poles, and installing netting that will allow for a better view of the game. We also will continue maintaining and improving the field, which has been recognized regionally and hopefully nationally, but all this takes money! We need your help! There is only so much money to go around from the school and most of what we have is from donations already. We are making financial commitments to upgrade our facilities and now need help to fund these improvements. If we want this program to reach its fullest potential our facility must continue to improve! Please consider getting involved with the Booster Club and help us reach our goals! Please contact Booster President Tim Bolden theboldens5@gmail.com if you would like to get involved.
Here's to a GREAT upcoming season!

Hello Titans fans! Don't miss the exciting action tonight as Arcadia hosts North Canyon at 6:30. The AIA website had this cool article about your Titans:
MARCH 27, 2017 BY LES WILLSEY, AZPREPS365
Arcadia's baseball team dug deep to extend its winning streak on Monday. The Titans found a way with guys not generally hitting or pitching standouts paving the way.
After falling behind 5-0 after two innings, Arcadia did most of its damage in the sixth and seventh to post a 9-6 win over Campo Verde in a 5A contest at windy Campo Verde High.
Arcadia improved to 10-6 overall and 7-0 in power-ranking games. A big chunk of that power-ranking success has come in the victory streak that reached seven with Monday's four-run rally in the seventh inning. Campo Verde is 9-7 overall and 4-2 in power-ranking games.
Arcadia's unlikely heroes were the No. 8 and No 9 hitters in its lineup -- Jack Walshiire and Jackson Westhoff, respectively. They combined for five hits and six RBI and hit their first home runs of the season. On the mound it was junior Max Reidy.
Walshire doubled his hit total for the season to four with a solo homer to left in the fourth and a tie-breaking RBI single in the seventh. Westhoff had three hits. The big ones were a two-run homer to right in the sixth that pulled Arcadia within 6-5. Westhoff's two-run triple in the seventh put the cap on the game-winning rally and gave the Titans breathing room to finish. Connor Denning notched a save after escaping a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the seventh.
Walshire, who was the DH until the he came on to face two batters, got the win by getting the final out of the sixth with a strikeout.
Picking up the pitching staff was Reidy. Reidy had appeared in four games this season and worked a total of 3 2/3 innings before Monday. He relieved taking starter Ryan Bolden in the third and allowed just one run in 3 2/3 nnings of work.
Arcadia's hot streak began with wins in its final two games of the Boras Classic it co-hosted with Corona del Sol the second week of March. The Titans have added five power-ranking wins to that. They have a tough week remaiining with three more games this week -- Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
The same goes for Campo Verde, which has games Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Three-game weeks are a little more common come late March. Four-game weeks are best avoided. Campo Verde used six pitchers -- none throwing more than two innings. The Coyotes had four players with two hits apiece -- Jarrett Wolfe, Brayden Campbell , Garret Thornton and Justin Springborn. Thornton had a first-inning home run and two RBI.
Come out and enjoy all the action.

Happy Holidays from our Arcadia Baseball Program.
Last week our Arcadia Baseball players and Coaches provided a very Happy Holidays for a refugee family they had adopted through The Welcome To America Project. The players and their families collected presents for all the family members, household items, sports equipment, games, toys and 4 gently used bicycles. On Saturday Coach Gerlach took a group of boys to meet the family and deliver all the gifts. The family of 11 were delighted to meet the boys and so very grateful for all the gifts.

*Food, Drinks, Prizes will be provided (bring the entire family).
Come early to watch your favorite Titan finishing up with “Batting Practice”, mingle with JJ Putz and Joe Saunders and get ready to show your stuff at the plate! Coach Gerlach and his staff have issued a challenge to the parents, “get a hit off us and your student athlete will be rewarded”. Successful batters will get their student athlete out of Saturday’s conditioning run. This could be one of your last chances to prove your athletic ability as well as make your child proud.
Following the “Coaches Challenge” all players will be locked up until they have been bailed out of jail. Remember, all proceeds will go to support our baseball program. We look forward to strengthening our baseball family and hope you will make the time to be a part of this event.

Arcadia Parents,
Welcome to another season of Arcadia Titans Baseball! The 2016 season is rapidly approaching and all signs are leading to one of the best seasons in Arcadia Titan Baseball history! We lost many seniors off of last season’s State Tournament team, 5 of which are continuing their baseball careers at the next level, Josh Arndt, Cornell University; Max Woods, Occidental University; Cole Norris, Gateway CC; Brian Cunningham, Gateway CC; and Tony Sarno, Gateway CC.
Our goal is to win a State Championship, and bring the Trophy to Arcadia for the first time in school history. The boys are already hard at work in the weight room preparing for the upcoming season and our quest to win a State Championship.
The 2016 schedule is shaping up to be one of the toughest in the state. Mark your calendars as the Titans will take on three perrenial top five Division 1 programs, one being the 2015 D1 State Champions Mesquite Wildcats. Game dates are March 4th at Brophy Prep 7 PM. March 8th vs Mesquite 6:30, and April 5th vs Horizon 6:30. Tailgate info to come!!
There will be an informational meeting Tuesday September 8th, at 6pm in Mount Olympus. Please plan on attending to hear more about the upcoming season and booster news. We need the continued support of our fabulous parents and the Arcadia community to continue to build the Arcadia Baseball program into an Arizona power!

Titans Baseball Family,
The season is rapidly approaching and the boys are chomping at the bit for February 10th!As camp is nearly half way completed, the guys continue to work and compete on a daily basis. We continue to lift 3 days a week at 6:30am to prepare ourselves for the physical and mental grind of a baseball season.
Just a reminder that all players need to have their physical and athletic packet completed and returned to Georgia French by the start of tryouts.
Parents, we will be having a facility clean up on Saturday, February 8th @ 8am.Please bring rakes, brooms, hula hoes, buckets, rags, etc., so we can get our facility in tip top shape for the start of season!
Go Titans,
Coach Gerlach

Arcadia Titans Baseball Community:
Baseball Camp is now in full-swing and the coaching staff is liking what we're seeing! As I'm sure you know, we have a lot of players trying out for our freshman, junior varsity and varsity teams. The coaching staff is really excited by the effort and talent we're seeing on the field. We have every reason to believe that our varsity team has the potential to return to state championship tournament like last year!
I know that you will enjoy watching our baseball teams play. You'll love our attitude, be impressed by our skills, and appreciate our good sportsmanship. I also want to make sure our Arcadia community knows that the Titans coaching staff places a very high priority on grades.
All of our players have signed a "contract" that details the responsibility of being an Arcadia Titans student-athlete. This means that all players must be passing their classes with C grades in order to be on the field for practice or a game. If they don't have a "C," then we help them out by giving up field time to devote to studying so they can get the passing grade and get back onto the field.
For the record, many, many other programs do not practice this standard. If you haven't had the chance to look at our 2014 schedule, see links below: We're playing a hard schedule, but that's what you do when you're striving to compete at the highest level.
Varsity Schedule
JV Schedule
Freshman Schedule
In my last update I talked about the Friday Night Trivia event, Friday, February 21 at the VFW Post 720, 4853 East Thomas Road. I've been told that we're starting to get some auction items, but we really could use some more! If you have an awesome item that someone will bid on, or know how to get one, please call our Friday Night Trivia chairperson Kimberly at 602.909.5213 or drop her an email at kimberlyandourkids@gmail.com.
Make sure you put this event on your calendar. It will be a lot of fun and do a lot of good for the Acadia Titans Baseball program.

Happy New Year Arcadia Titan Baseball Supporters!
I hope your family enjoyed a wonderful holiday season! On behalf of the Arcadia Titan coaching staff, we're really excited to kick-off the 2014 baseball season. Of course, our focus right now is on the next four weeks leading to try-outs on Feb. 10, 11, and 12. This time-period before tryouts includes a three-week Titan Baseball camp.
The 2014 goal of our coaching staff is to improve our performance of last year, when we reached the state championship tournament. That means we want to go even deeper into the tournament and create the opportunity to compete for the title! With our JV and Freshman squads, we want to compete hard every game and develop the mentality and desire to compete at the championship level.
I believe we have the right ingredients - players, coaching staff, administrative support, and a terrific boosters group - to take the Arcadia Titan program to the next level and sustain it for many years to come. But even with all these awesome ingredients for success, one more ingredient is necessary and that's the broad support of the entire Arcadia community. If we have that, nothing can stop us!
One great way for anyone in the Arcadia community to support our program is to attend our main fundraising event for the season, Friday Night Trivia, Friday, February 21 at the VFW Post 720, 4853 East Thomas Road.Last year close to 150 people attended this fun event that featured terrific auction items plus a highly competitive Trivia game that was a blast! The event raised over $13,000, and we're hoping the 2014 event can top that.
Our Friday Night Trivia Chairperson, Kimberly Jacobsen, is looking for high-quality silent and live auction items. If you can help, give Kimberly a call at 602.909.5213 or send her an email: kimberlyandourkids@gmail.com.
If you have a chance, come by the field - which is really looking great - to watch our practices. I know the players really appreciate seeing the stands filled with Arcadia supporters and their fellow students. I know I do!
Go Titans!

Parents,
After all the hard work the boys have been putting into fall baseball in preparation for January try-outs, it’s time to celebrate their efforts as we head into the holidays! You won’t want to miss our holiday scrimmage on Friday, December 13th. The younger players will play at 4pm and the older boys will play at 5:30. No celebration is complete without some great food, so the boosters will deliver pizza for all the boys after the scrimmages. So, grab a blanket, a jacket, or both, and join the fun at the varsity baseball field next Friday. I know the boys will appreciate seeing you in the stands!
We recently uploaded pictures from our Summer baseball program this past summer. Go to this link and have a look: http://leaguelineup.com/photoalbum.asp?url=atbaseball&sid=4&photocatid=301306
Finally, I want to throw-in one final plug for the 2013 Arcadia Titans Baseball Tax Credit Contribution. You recently received information about this program from booster John Thurau that outlined this great deal. It’s a win-win-win proposition! You can make a contribution of as much as $400 that will be offset in your 2013 Arizona state income tax that will help build the program and enrich the experience for all of the boys. In these final weeks of 2013 I hope you will consider this donation option. Click here to donate.
Watch for my next update coming soon!

Parents,
I have been very pleased with the interest in playing summer baseball for the Titans! Our first tournament is only two weeks away and it’s time to start preparing. All players are encouraged to participate in workouts even if they are not playing in the upcoming tournament. We will work out on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm on the Arcadia varsity baseball field. I know many of the kids are not old enough to drive but I ask that you have your son to workouts on time. Being on time is an expectation of this program, along with being properly dressed for practices. Practice attire is as follows: No flip flops, all players must wear tennis shoes and must also bring cleats ( no vans ), baseball pants, t-shirt ( tucked in ), and a hat. Players are also encouraged to bring their own water as well. We have a water fountain in case someone doesn’t have any water with them. If your son is unable to attend a workout they need to contact me and let me know they will not be attending. My cell phone is 440-339-1490.
Parents, I ask that summer payments be made through the credit card payment link on the Arcadia Baseball website, and I ask that all payments be made by May 24th. If you are unable to pay in full by that time please email me at tgerlach@susd.org and we can make other arrangements. Please don’t hesitate to email me with any questions or concerns regarding the summer.
Thank you for your time!
Sincerely,
Coach Gerlach

Baseball Parents,
As the school year draws to a close, and my first season of Arcadia Titan Baseball is in the books, the expectations have never been higher! Our graduating senior class has built a foundation for future Titans. Our unexpected trip to the second round of the State Tournament is a true testament of the hard work and dedication that this group of guys put into the baseball program.I would also like to thank the parents for all of their dedication and support throughout the year. However, there is no rest for the weary!Summer baseball has arrived!
I would like to invite all baseball players to participate in summer baseball at Arcadia. However, I do recommend that players play as much as possible, even if that means playing for a club or scout team.If there are ever any conflicts between the teams I totally support playing against the tougher competition, which usually is with a club or scout team.
Arcadia Baseball will be entering three to four tournaments in which we will be guaranteed a minimum of four games. We will also have a few workouts leading up to the tournaments. The dates and times of the workouts will be determined at a later date.We will enter as many teams as allowed in each tournament, maybe two teams for the same age group. The tournament dates are as follows:
·May 31st – June 2nd Sunrise Mountain Mustang & AZBA Wood Bat Tourney.15u and 16u
·June 6th – June 9th Southwest Wood Bat Desert Classic. 15u, 16u, 18u
·June 21st- June 23rd Southwest Wood Bat Desert Classic II. 15u, 16u 18u
If you are going to participate in one of the above tournaments please provide me with the following information for your son:
·First, Last Name
·Age and Date of Birth
·Grade for upcoming school year
·Position / Positions
·T-Shirt size
·Date or Dates of Tournaments
Teams will be assigned by Coach Gerlach based on skill, age, and availability. Each tournament has a $100 fee.Payment must be received before the start of the tournament (no refunds), scholarship opportunities are available.Checks can be made out to Arcadia Baseball Boosters or you can pay online. If you have any questions please contact Coach Gerlach at tgerlach@susd.org.
If you are going to participate in any of the above tournaments please email Coach Gerlach with the above information by May 15th.

Arcadia Baseball Families:
This past Saturday evening, we had over 125 people attend the 3rd Annual Trivia Night benefiting Arcadia Baseball. The event was a huge success and tons of fun was had by all that attended. Everyone was very generous in purchasing the auction items and the live auction brought out some great bidding for several fabulous prizes. The Trivia Night Committee once again raised the bar for the event and many are already talking about next year’s fun filled evening.
We had a lot of support from our younger Bulldog families that came out to support our program and begin the process of getting to know some of the families already at Arcadia High School. I feel that the connection that we can make with the families and players coming into our program over the next few years is very important to the health and growth of the sport at Arcadia High School. A special thanks goes out to our future Titan families.
Please join me in congratulating Kimberly Jacobson, Lori Arndt and Scott Wiley for all the hard work that they put into the event. Without them, this event wouldn’t have happened. I have already had inquiries about next year’s Trivia Night and for those who missed this fabulous event, don’t miss it next year. Good luck to the Titan Baseball Teams this week. Come out and support our boys. Go Titans!
Until next time,
Don MacWilliam
