Cardinals Claim 2008 OVBL Title
The Wheeling Cardinals claimed their first OVBL title in the second year of existence on Friday night at Henning Field as they beat the Barton Braves 3-2 in game four of the OVBL Finals. It was another great game in a hard fought series. THe Cardinals won the series by winning game one, three and four with Barton winning game 2. The OVBL would like to thank LaRoche Tree Service for their sponsorship and all the fans who came out and supported all the teams this season.
2008 LaRoche Tree Service Ohio Valley Baseball League All-Star Game was postponed
*** The 2008 LaRoche Tree Service Ohio Valley Baseball League All-Star game at Henning Field in Crescent, OH was postponed due to Mother Nature. THis game will be made up at a time to be determined later. This game will pin the best players from each division as Ohio will take West Virginia. Bring the whole family out as this, just like all OVBL events, are free to attend. Also the the Barton Braves will be holding their 2nd Annual Cornhole Tournament immediately following the game. The OVBl hopes to see you there!
2nd Annual Barton Braves Cornhole Classic Set
*** The Barton Braves 2nd Annual Cornhole Tournament will be held June 14th at Henning Field in Crescent, OH. The tournament will be part of a day long celebration of the LaRoche Tree Service Ohio Valley Baseball League. The cornhole tournament will start after the 2008 LaRoche Tree Service Ohio Valley Baseball League All-Star Game. The all-star game is set for first pitch at noon. The game will be a nine inning contest between Ohio and West Virginia. The Cornhole Tournament will start shortly after the game ends with an estimated start time of 3:00 pm. The cornhole tournament will be a double elimination partner event. Entry fee is $30 a team. Prize money will be awarded to the top three finsishers. Don't forget that the concession stand will be open for ALL of your food and BEVERAGE needs. The Ohio Valley Baseball League and the Barton Braves hope to see you there.
OVBL Teams and Season Details Finalized
The 2008 Ohio Valley Baseball League sponsored LaRoche Tree Service has finalized it's teams and details of the season. There will be eight teams for this year's season battling in two different divisions. There will an Ohio division consisting of: Barton, Maynard, St. Clairsville and Neffs. The other division will be the West Virginia division consisting of: Wheeling Cardinals, Wheeling Yankees, West Liberty and Wierton. Every team will play each team in their division four times and every team in the opposite division twice. The playoffs will be divisional series' until the OVBL Finals when the winners of each division will play each other for the OVBL Crown. This is turning into one of the most anticipated OVBL seasons in many years.

OVBL GOES TO WOOD BAT!
As a result of the scheduled OVBL league meeting, the league managers and officials voted, that the Ohio Valley Baseball League will now be exculsively wooden bat. Not since the first years of the introduction of the metal bat has the OVBL been strictly wood. This is a huge step in the right direction for our historic league.
