Rule Updates for the 2015 Fall Season

March 10, 2014

As of 2015 Spring Season:

  • The Overtime in the Bronze Division will be determined by a 12 minute 4 vs 4 period (running clock).
  • The automatic high stick call has been amended in the silver division. It will no longer be an automatic penalty unless the stick comes in contact with the head of another player.
  • The player call up rule has been modified. Refer to page 15 of the rulebook in the handouts section.
  • Mouth pieces are now a mandatory piece of equipment. If a player does not have his mouth piece in, he/she cannot play.

Effective immediately, 2015 Fall Season, the following rules will begin to be enforced:

  • Clipping/Sliding:

Clipping is the act of throwing the body or sliding oneself, from any direction, across or below the knees of an opponent. A player may not deliver a check in a “clipping” manner, nor lower his own body position to deliver a check on or below an opponent’s knees. An illegal “low hit” is a check that is delivered by a player or goalkeeper who may or may not have both skates on the ice, with his sole intent to check the opponent in the area of his knees. A player may not lower his body position to deliver a check to an opponent’s knees.

  • Tripping:

A player shall not place the stick, knee, foot, arm, hand or elbow in such a manner that causes his opponent to trip or fall. Accidental trips which occur simultaneously with a completed play will not be penalized. Accidental trips occurring simultaneously with or after a stoppage of play will not be penalized.   ** A 2 minute minor penalty will be assessed when a defending player "dives" and trips an attacking player with his body/arm/shoulder, regardless of whether the defending player is able to make initial contact with the puck. but, in situations where a penalty shot might otherwise be appropriate, if the defending player "dives" and touches the puck first (before the trip), no penalty shot will be awarded. (In such cases, the resulting penalty will be limited to a 2 minute minor penalty for tripping.)
