Colts had impressive debut in scrimmage

May 18, 2013

The Colts came out of the stable running during the scrimmage Saturday when they faced the Lake Norman Fear. The defense took the field, led by defensive coordinator Torrie Walker, and smother the Fear offense with big hits lead by LB Chris McNair, DB Dreyan Willis and DB Michael Cunningham. The defensive front led by defensive linemen Ira Guinn, Mike Morris and Mark Johnson held their ground to stuff the Fear run game. LB Raphael King grabbed an interception on the Colts first defensive series.

Offensive Coordinator Ron Cartier's offense didn't take long to show their presence, in fact it only took three plays, when QB Darius Thomas made a 70 yards strike to WR Jay Shelton for a touchdown. RB Otis Moore had no problems transitioning from the indoor game with the Continental Indoor Football League when he had impressive carries. WR O'Bryan Potts had a 60 yard reception. "I was pleased with the effort they made on the field today." said Colts head coach Shawn Wood, "It showed the hard work these guys been putting in since March." The Colts will be traveling to Greenville, SC on Saturday June 1st when they face the Greenville Seminoles. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
