The Charlotte Colts lost their CCFL opener to the Carolina Thundering Herd 8-6 in Concord, NC. The Colts (1-1, 0-1 CCFL) only score came from running back Davon Gardner when he galloped 40 yards for a third quarter touchdown. The Colts had a chance to win the game late in the fourth quarter but the 40 yard field goal attempted by kicker Charles Powell was blocked.
The Colts will travel to Newton, NC on July 19th to play last year CCFL champions Catawba Hornets, who they lost to in the championship game. Kickoff is at 8 p.m.
