BULLDOGS 2017 SPRING & SUMMER REG. OPEN NOW, LTD SPACE AVAIL.

February 25, 2017

With both the Winter CYO and HS seasons coming to an end, the Bulldogs are proud and excited to announce the start of Bulldogs 2017. 2017 will be our 21st season developing players and having fun in the tri valley.  As always, we will run Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter sessions. The Spring and Summer sessions will both be 3 months long (Spring runs March through May / Summer runs June through August) while Fall will only be 2 months (September, October). Each session will include practice twice a week as well as play in the highly competitive MVP League. We will also have optional tournament play available.

Last year, we had 23 teams including 3 girls teams, 3 boys HS teams and 17 boys teams, 2nd to 8th grade.  Because of gym time, this year we are setting a limit at 28 teams including our Elite Alpha Program.  So for the first time in our 21 year history, we may not be able to take everyone.  Once we reach our limit of 280 players, we will be forced to close registration.  With that in mind, here are the details:

Bulldogs Basketball is open to Boys, 2nd grade to HS Varsity & Girls, 2nd to 8th Grade.  We practice twice a week, mainly on Tuesday and Friday evenings at either Pleasanton MS or Harvest Park MS, both in Pleasanton.  Our full practice schedule to the end of May, complete with times, dates and locations can be found on the calendar link on the left side of this page.  League games will begin the weekend of March 4 & 5 with the regular season wrapping up the weekend of May 13 & 14 and playoffs the weekend of May 20 & 21.  Then as always, we will be taking our top Boys and Girls teams to Reno for the JamOnIt Reno Memorial Day AAU Tournament, literally the largest basketball tournament in the world (1100 teams last year).

About the Bulldogs:  We are a club basketball program with something for all levels of player.  With that in mind, here is what we will be offering this Spring:

  • Bulldogs Boys Club Teams - We expect to have about 15 boys club teams, 2nd to 8th grade this spring all separated by skill level.  Our Club teams all practice twice a week during the week and play league games on the weekend.
  • ALPHA Elite - For those interested in Alpha, we will have Boys ALPHA teams, 3rd to 8th grade.  ALPHA is our program for the player that is looking for more of the year round, tourney team experience.  Our ALPHA teams are an 8 month commitment but in that, players get the Spring, Summer and Fall leagues as well as 5 tournaments including Reno over Memorial Day weekend and about 20 extra practices over and above the standard 2 practices a week all our teams get.
  • Boys HS Teams - We expect to have 3 or 4 boys HS teams, again, separated by skill level.  We don't call our HS teams ALPHA because our HS players go back to their HS teams over the summer.  So, for our HS Guys, we practice twice a week and play Spring League.  We wrap up spring by taking our top HS teams to Reno for the Memorial Day AAU Event.
  • Bulldogs Girls Club Teams - We hope to have at least one team a grade for the girls, 3rd to 8th grade.  Like the boys HS teams, they will practice twice a week, play Spring League and if there is interest, go to Reno for Memorial Day Weekend.

So, if you are interested in playing Spring Bulldogs, you can register right here online or you can do it in person at our next practice.

You know, there are a lot of ways to develop a player. Some like to spend their Spring and Summer traveling around to tournaments all over the state and even country, getting on airplanes, staying in hotels, renting cars, eating in restaurants and spending tons of money on things that don't make you a better player but do disrupt your entire family life back home. We take another route. We say find a team that plays great competition LOCALLY.  Find a program with the best instruction around and with coaches that care about kids & helping them get better. Find a program that likes and wants to win but doesn't focus on winning youth basketball games as much as developing HS and maybe even college level basketball players. Find a program that plays the way the HS teams in your area play, with tough man to man defense and unselfish motion offense that will teach your kids the right way to play this great game. Find a program that really believes that Fundamentals First is the only way to teach the game. Find a program that pushes kids to play harder than they knew they could. Find a program that practices twice for every game played. And then stand back and watch your son or daughter get better. If you agree with our method of developing players, then the Bulldogs are the program for you.

Remember, This program is very popular and will fill up as always. So, if your interested in joining any of these great programs, shoot me an email at PGLeClaire@Comcast.net and I will get you all the details as well as put you on our mailing list to ensure you are notified as details become available.  Also, you can check this site for registration as well as practice info and updates as they become available. Thanks and hope to see you all on the hardwood this spring,

Coach LeClaire
