SAINTS WIN STREAK AT 4

June 5, 2023

        (Payton is good at pitching!)

GREENWALD--Things you like to see. Young bucks returning from college ball. Beating Regal and Greenwald in the same weekend is also fun to watch! Elrosa ran its win streak to four games as they opened the month of June with two solid victories over long time rivals.

Friday night, the Saints hammered out 10 hits on their way to a 7-1 victory over Regal. Riley Meyer, fresh off a sophomore season at Concordia, pitched 6 1/3 innings for the victory. Meyer struck out three and didn't allow a walk to earn the dub. Wyatt Steffensen's scenic tour of Ridgewater helped him finish the mound work as the young right hander allowed two walks and two strikeouts while only surrendering a lone walk. Jackson Peter continues to rip the cover off the ball after finishing a stellar season at St. John's. Peter knocked in two runs with a triple and double to go along with a stolen base. Andrew Weller is serving Brooten U. proudly as the alum drilled three more hits to aid the Saints offensively.

     (Riley > Regal)

Sunday, the Navy Nine traveled to Greenwald to agitate the Cubbies. Payton VanBeck proved that the Huskie was the ultimate predator as the St. Cloud State product threw a complete game while striking out 12 batters to earn the win. VanBeck scattered six hits while allowing two runs and one walk. Kevin Kuefler and Jackson Peter each collected three hits for the Saints who broke a 2-2 tie in the 7th inning with five runs to put the game out of reach. Junior College World Series participants Blaine Fischer and Peyton Winter combined to garner three hits while stealing two bases as fellow St. Cloud Tech Cyclone Will VanBeck walked twice as the Saints kept the pressure on the bases all afternoon. Next up for the Saints is a Friday night matchup in Elrosa with Greenwald and a Saturday trip to Avon to face the Lakers.
