SAINTS CLAIM 7TH SCL REGULAR SEASON CROWN

ELROSA 16, FARMING 6

FARMING--The Saints pounded out 19 hits as they clinched their 7th Stearns County North regular season championship with a 16-6 victory over the Flames Saturday night in Farming. Matt Schmitz and Austen Hadley each collected three hits while Matt Middendorf scored five runs to pace the offense. James Kuefler hit a solo home run and Kevin Kuefler and Cody Eichers each ripped two hits to lead an offensive attack that took advantage of six Flame errors. Derek "Nuke" Wiener started on the mound but didn't make it out of the first inning as the Saints committed two costly errors as they handed the Flames an early 4-1 lead. Elrosa responded the next inning when Schmitz drove a two-out bases loaded double to right center to tie the score at 4. The Saints cruised from that point as Hadley picked up the victory in relief of Wiener before eventually giving way to Austin Imdieke. The Saints added two runs in the 4th, three in the 5th, 2 in the sixth, and four in the 7th to put the game out of reach. Bradon Roelike finished the work week 0-for-6 but did manage to get the sunflower seed out of his catching mitt. Elrosa left 15 runners on base in the lop sided affair.
