8th Annual Jonny Baggett Memorial Tournament

LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!

Jonny Baggett was a student who played soccer at Birdville High School that passed away after his battle with Leukemia. Jonny was a loving son, brother, faithful Christian, honor student, and fierce competitor. In all things Jonny put others first. Playing soccer was about his team, never about himself. He was a leader on and off the field through his work ethic, always driving to do his best, and an encouragement to others and humble. He truly valued God, his family and teammates.

Just Before Jonny fell ill, he played the game of his life against Wichita Falls in a playoff game where he came off the field and said "This is awesome...I don't want this to end!" It was shortly after that game, Jonny would be diagnosed with Leukemia. He told his family, doctors and coaches..."The Battle Begins." He never dwelled on himself being sick. He lived his life by the following quote, "Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. All the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can."- John Wesley

The BHS soccer teams look forward to playing in the tournament named in memory and honor of Jonny Baggett. Our players on the fields today didn't play or go to school with Jonny, but his legacy is forever with them. In his short life, he was an example of how we should live our lives by keeping a positive attitude, living selflessly, giving our all and never giving up.

"The Battle Begins"- Jonny Baggett
