MRBI Wins 2014 AAU Fall States

Maryland RBI wins battle for AAU state championship

ANNAPOLIS — Top-ranked undefeated Maryland RBI (12-0-2) stayed that way, claiming the AAU fall wood bat baseball championship Saturday with a 6-1 win over No. 2 Rats at Riva Park.

Rats went up 1-0 in the first inning. After that Maryland RBI tied the score in the second and then Jake Hoyer broke the 1-1 tie in the top of the third. With two outs, Hoyer stole home on a passed ball. Maryland RBI plated three in the third to begin pulling away, 5-1, and finally 6-1.

Billy Albaugh pitched a complete game victory, putting in seven innings of work on the mound. The lone run surrendered was unearned.

The result concluded 2014 AAU sanctioned fall league play among the LF Cougars, Southern Dawgs, Baltimore Tigers, Broadneck Bruins, DC Knights, and Maryland RBI, which finished 2014 with a 27-21-2 record.
