League Descriptions

Our leagues can be confusing. The Metro/South Central league (competitive) is based upon your age as of January 1st

-- U10 is for 10 and under and U12 is for 12. That means a 5th grader with a birth date of 1/1 or after (player is 10 on 12/31) can play U10 competitive league. However a 5th grader who wants to play in the Badger league, which is more developmental or recreation, cannot play U10 Badger and must play U12 Badger.

-- This is the same for 7th graders that have spring birthdays. (If you are confused by this email/call me or another Board/Parent Rep.)

-- If your player is a 5th grader and is age eligible wants to be considered for either U12 Badger, U12 competitive or U10 competitive then she needs to come to both U10 and U12 tryouts

Squirts - Current Grades K-2:

Registration for Squirts will remain open through March. Please have your friends register! There is no tryout or team formations for this group. If we can get enough 2nd graders we would like to pull them out and create a U8 league that is a bit tougher for the girls.  If you are an advanced 2nd grader and/or winter bday you may be considered for U10 badger but you need to come to tryouts to ensure it is not a safety issue.

Attention Squirts K-1: You do not need to attend the assessment unless you are a 2nd grader and want to be considered for u10 badger/recreational program. You also do not have to attend the Parent Meeting. We will provide future communication.

U10 - Badger Grades 3-4 and Competitive ages 10 and under:

Based on initial numbers we will probably have one Metro team, one South Central team and one Badger teams but this is depending upon registration numbers. You must tryout for competitive teams and those teams will be based on tryout scores.  We hope the Metro team will do 6 tournaments with one sleepover and the SC team 3 tournaments.  The Metro team will be registered for the Oregon Tournament May 30-June 1.  The SC potential may be but will be dependent upon ability to have pitchers ready.

U12 – Badger Grades 5-6 and Competitive ages 12 and under:

It looks like there should be two competitive U12 teams and hopefully one Badger team. One competitive team will play Metro league against tournament teams and the other in South Central which is more town team based. We would expect both competitive teams to play tournaments, but it is not required that the player attend them all. We expect 80% attendance for Metro. We will be providing more information on expectations for competitive to you prior to you having to accept a team.  We are also considering employing head/assistant coaches with college experience. This would be an additional expense by the players but would be voted upon as a team. This is an idea that will be discussed nothing required. I did this on my u12 team last year and it worked well. The girls got more out of the experience.

U14 –

If players register we will try to have a league team but not a tournament team this year.
