UISA Donates Supplies for Ugandan Orphans
Recently the Upper Island Soccer Association along with some of its member clubs donated some 20 boxes of soccer equipment to African Youth Ministries of Uganda to help them further their work with AIDS orphans in that country. With the generous support of Total Delivery Systems, the boxes are being transported to Vancouver where they will be added to other donations for delivery by container to Uganda.
We have recently been collecting soccer clothing and equipment for shipment to Uganda to support the work of Albert Kunihita of Africa Youth Ministries an NGO that works with local youth and AIDs orphans in Uganda. Albert visited us last summer during his travels across Canada seeking support and a high school girls’ team from Vancouver recently returned from a visit to Uganda in support of Albert's efforts. One of the girl’s fathers has volunteered to collect material, and arrangements for a container to transport the goods to Uganda are being finalized.
Shown in the photograph is Deryck Cowling, Secretary - Treasurer of the UISA, handing off the ball to Craig Schmidt of Total Delivery Systems. It is symbolic of some 20 boxes of soccer supplies donated by Upper Island clubs on the first leg of their journey to aid work with AIDS orphans in Uganda.
