2008 Tag Day Schedule
Tag Day is this weekend, and WBA players will be collecting donations at various Weirton businesses. Team assignments can be found by clicking the black schedule link above. Manager names are listed, please contact your manager with any questions.
Dave Cowden has contacted the businesses, assigned teams, and currently working on distributing cans to 1st shift teams. Cowden will be making rounds during the day to collect and empty cans, and final drop point for teams will be the concession stand.
Player Agents: Though Cowden personally called and/or emailed every manager, it would not hurt for you to remind your managers of their locations , pick up and drop off instructions. Thanks Dave for all the effort on this years event.
Welcome OVYBL Teams
In 2008, the Weirton Baseball website will once again be the official Schedule and Standings location for the Ohio Valley Youth Baseball League (Mustang, Bronco, Pony).
All teams are urged to review the Game Score Posting procedures found to the left in the Printable Documents section. In order to maintain accurate standings, we need 100% participation from all coaches and managers.
Also, keep in mind, that if any changes are worked out between coaches, communicate them to us via e-mail, and we will update here. This includes rescheduled make up games. OVYBL Team manager contact lists (Pony, Bronco, and Mustang) can be found by clicking the Printable Documents link near the bottom of the menu to the left. Contacts were updated on 4/20, all team contacts are now listed.
Thanks and good luck in 2008!
Mandatory Managers Meeting Rescheduled
The annual managers meeting has been rescheduled for Sunday, April 13, 2008 at 6:00pm at the American Legion (previously scheduled for Sunday, April 6, 2008). Meeting was rescheduled do to conflicting schedules with many managers.

Rosters being formed
It has become clear that our 50th Season is sure to one of our biggest in years with 453 kids signed up to compete within our complex. During this week, coaches and league officials have been working hard assebling competitively balanced teams in all age groups. Many of you may have heard from your coaches already.
To date, most leagues have complete team selections. Currently, just Shetland (t-ball), Pinto (7-8) and Mustang (9-10) need completed. Pinto draft will be held on Monday 3/16, Mustang tryouts are scheduled for 3/16 and 3/17.
ATTENTION Shetland, please note that with 144 kids in the t-ball division we have decided to "redraft" taking the 10 teams of 14 kids to 12 teams of 12 kids. This will allow coaches a better opportunity to manage and teach. **For this reason, you may hear from a new coach in the next few days.**
All rosters will be finalized, no later that March 20th. Thank you.

The board formally meets at the American Legion on the first Sunday of each month throughout the year. Our next meeting will be October 7, 2007, and we will begin to discuss plans and ideas for the 2008 season, which will be our 50th Anniversary Season.
We are always in need of your help. Each year board members spend many hours of their personal time ensuring everything is set for the season. During the season, members are drawn in many directions outside of their positions to offer the best overall experience for the youth and parents of our association. There is plenty to do in this all-volunteer league. The kids depend on all parents for a quality baseball experience, and the board (volunteer parents) can use your help. If interested, please contact any board member or e-mail us at weirtonbaseball@hotmail.com Thank you!
WBA Teams to be Recognized.
On Tuesday July 31, 2007, the Wheeling Intelligencer/ News Register daily newspaper will feature an insert recognizing Ohio Valley area youth baseball and softball champions for the summer of 2007.
The WBA will be well represented, as photos were sent for all of our regular season and tournament championships for both baseball and softball.
Congrats to all teams! Be sure to pick up your copy on Tuesday!
Join the WBA Email List
Stay up to date on all the WBA information, news, updates and events by clicking on the link below the Main Menu on the left and join our email distribution system. We assure you that we won't load your inbox with usless information. You have the ability to select the info that you will receive.
To date, we have accumulated 183 email addresses (less than 1/2 of the WBA families). As postage costs continue to rise, this list should develop into our premier communication tool, as we commit to greater leaguewide communication in 2007. It can't be totally effective without leaguewide participation. Please take a moment and sign up. Thank you.
Standings Update for All Leagues
Game Reporting Procedure
The WBA has agreed to host the "Official" Standings of the OVYBL Baseball leagues, as well as area Softball leagues. I believe this will provide a great understanding of where teams align in the standings during the season. This service is only as accurate as the information submitted.
If you are a manager from any team listed on this site, Weirton or any other community, take a look at the attached document (Game Reporting Procedure link above), and begin following the procedure for posting scores. It is a simple process, but again the standings will only be as accurate as the info you submit.
Each team should assign a coach to input scores following each game. Typically, it will be the responsibility of the Home team, but all teams should monitor as a proper back up. Thanks.
POST YOUR PICTURES ON WBA's WEB SITE
If you have digital pictures of WBA players and teams in action, we'd like to post them to our on-line photo album. Pictures must be in .JPG or .GIF format. Email the pictures, along with a brief description for a caption (if desired) to: weirtonbaseball@hotmail.com
