MARCH MADNESS - BGL
March 17, 2009
The playoff schedule can be viewed by clicking above.
PLEASE CLICK ON THE "PLAYOFF" TAB TO THE LEFT TO VIEW THE PLAYOFF RULES (this is not yet activated).
The seedings were determined by the final regular season standings. Any ties in the standings were broken by head-to-head competition (first) and then by coin flips.
Only Grades 3 to 8 participate in playoffs- there are NO playoffs for Grades 1-2 (they have regular season games as posted on the schedule). Also note that certain teams may play games on two consecutive days.
Also, Coaches and Parents should review the Playoff Rules- they will be posted in the "Playoff" tab as well.
Keep checking the site for updates to the playoff schedule as the teams advance.
Let's enjoy our own MARCH MADNESS- who will be the Cinderella team in this year's BGL tournament??

GYM SAFETY
December 25, 2008
PARENTS-
Please DO NOT allow your children to bring basketballs to the gym.
Balls continue to roll onto the court during play and someone is going to get hurt. Leave all basketballs at home!!!
PLAYER AGENTS
Player Agent responsibilities include being present for all games in their respective division, assisting in maintaining the cleanliness of the gym and the gym floor (between games), assigning timekepers for games (to maintain the foul count and work the clock), keeping the games on our very tight schedule and monitoring teams for compliance with the rules of the League.
We always need volunteers.
INFORMATION FOR NEW FAMILIES
October 20, 2008
A few facts about the typical BGL season:
Games are held on Friday nights (5:30 to 9:00 PM) and Saturday (all day) from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM
Grades 3-4 (boys & girls) generally play on Friday nights and/or late Saturday morning.
Grades 1-2 play first thing Saturday mornings. Boys start at 7:00 AM and the girls usually play at around 8:15 or so.
After the Grades 1-2 and 3-4 games are completed on Saturdays, the schedule will GENERALLY then be Grades 5-6 and then Grades 7-8 later in the day/evening. But there is exceptions and the schedule will differ week to week. The only sure thing is Grades 1-2 early Saturday and Grades 3-4 on Friday night.
We expect to have one or two practice sessions in mid-December. Games will start in January for all divisions (Grades 5-6 and 7-8 may have one game in December).
Gym time is very scarce based on the many Parish and School functions held in the AAC, so practice times are very limited, if any. We do try to use the two Monday holidays (January and February) for practice sessions, unless we need to make up games that are cancelled due to weather.
Game schedules can only be assembled after determining the number of teams in each division- and that can only be accomplished after registration is completed. Please pass the word around that registration has begun so we can avoid the dreaded late sign-up's.
