8U Softball - SE Regional Champions; World Series Bound!

DATE: Monday, July 20, 2015

East Bay Youth Athletics (formerly known as Eastbay Little League) is located near I75 and Big Bend Rd and was founded in 1971. It has been the home for youth softball and baseball to thousands of young boys and girls throughout the southern Hillsborough County since then. Serving an average of 700-800 participants per season, EBYA has grown to become one of the largest youth softball/baseball organizations in all of Hillsborough County.

On this past Saturday, July 18, the 8U girls softball team beat the Virginia State Champion and won the Southeast Regional Championship to clinch an invitation to the BABE RUTH WORLD SERIES!  In the long history of Eastbay,  this is the first Regional Championship for any team from Eastbay,  baseball or softball!  It is also the very first WORLD SERIES invitation for any team from Eastbay!  This is a major accomplishment and an unbelievable experience for these league age  6,7,8 year old girls!  They have worked extremely hard and have shown unrivaled competitiveness to earn their invitation.  Just to get to the regional playoffs,  they had to go through a district championship (which they won) to then receive an invitation to the Florida State Championship where they did not win,  but placed high enough to earn an invite to the Regionals.

The road to this accomplishment has been paved with sweat, hard work, and dedication.  Not only by the girls, but the families behind them.  As you can imagine, fuel, hotel stays, food, and other expenses have been a huge cost for the families.  This team has no dedicated sponsor, corporate or otherwise.  They fundraise the best they can by doing helmet drives and spirit nights at a local Beef O Bradys. These girls and families sure could use any help to defray the cost they have already spent in achieving their dream and possibly bring back a BABE RUTH WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP to Hillsborough County!

To this end, the team has set up a GO FUND ME PAGE where donations can be made if you would like to help.  Donations can also be made to EBYA webpage itself.  Ways to donate to the team is attached.

11U Baseball - District & State Champions; SE Regionals Bound!!

DATE:  July 15, 2015

East Bay Little League, now known as East Bay Youth Athletics (Riverview, FL), was founded in 1971 and has been the home for youth baseball and softball to thousands of young boys and girls throughout southern Hillsborough County.  Serving an average of 700-800 participants per season, EBYA has grown to become one of the largest youth baseball/softball organizations in Hillsborough County.

Last week, the EBYA 11u All Star competed as the Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth District 10 Champions and Representatives at the 2015 Florida Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth State Championships hosted at Candyland Park in Longwood, FL.  The EBYA 11u All Stars has a very tough draw as the defeated some very talented all-star teams from Okeeheelee, Manatee and Miami/Latin America.  After going 3 and 0 in bracket play, on Sunday, July 12th, the EBYA 11u All Stars faced off against the Miami/Latin American All Stars, once again, in the Championship Game.

The Miami All Stars went up early by a score of 3 to 0 through 3-1/2 innings in what proved to be a real pitching duel, but the EBYA All Stars would not be denied.  The EBYA All Stars' bats exploded in the bottom of the 4th inning as they rallied to score 7 runs, overtaking and eventually defeating the Miami All Stars by a final scoe of 7 to 3, to be crowned the 2015 Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth Florida State Champions.

The EBYA 11u All Stars are the first team in the illustrious 44-year history of baseball at East Bay to earn a state title.  From July 21-26, the EBYA 11u All Stars will be one of the teams representing the State of Florida at the upcoming 2015 Babe Ruth Southeast Region Tournament which is hosted in Stafford, Virginia.  Our community can and should take great pride in this tremendous achievment by our local youth baseballteam, and we wish them the best of luck for continued success.
