Skill Clinics and Scrimmages! Players will have 60 minute daily clinic followed by a Full scrimmage

Wednesday Afternoon - 1 Hour Skills Clinics (Focus on Pitching and Throwing)

Adelphi Led Skills Clinic November 4th (November 5th Rain Date)

Will Include Off Season Winter Batting Cages which is offered Saturday Mornings starting after MLK Weekend in January through to Spring Break in March

PLAY BALL!  The season has begun! We will have a one week break for Spring Break (no Clinics, no games) and resume all clinics and games immediately after Easter on Monday April 17th.

 

10 Pitchers and Catchers Clinics have been finalized and will begin April 19th at Stratford Elementary School Fields details:

3rd Grade - 6th Grade Registered Players are welcome, GCAA Sponsored, Run by Coach Callie

Where: Stratford Elementary School Fields

When: Wednesdays starting April 19th  from 5:45 - 6:45 PM

What to Bring:  NO BATS.  Just bring, water, a glove and a ball.  If your daughter intends to participate in Pitching Clinics, you should have at least a handful of your own 11" balls (3rd-5th) or 12" (6th-7th) Softballs at home that she is practising. 


Welcome to all players interested in Pitching and Catcher, and is mandatory that all Pitchers participate in at least half the offered clinics in order to develop proper skills required for player fastpitch softball.

The program continues to GROW and IMPROVE, and right now Coaches Tim and Drew are doing 100% of these tasks.  Ideally for a parent that is NOT already volunteering  as Coaches.  Contact Drew at: Drewhearon@aol.com

 

The GCAA Softball Program currently offers the following programs and will need Parent Volunteers for all.  No experience required!

 

  • K-1 Clinic  (Tee Ball)  Monday's starting April 1 6pm to DUSK Nassau Haven Park
  • 2-3rd Grade: Team Play.  Coach and player pitch, starting April 1,  Mondays and Fridays also 6pm to DUSK
  • 4-5th Grade: Team play. Player Pitch only.  Inter-town League (North Shore League), Thursdays 6pm and Saturdays
  • 6-7th Grade: Team play. Player Pitch only.  Inter-town League (North Shore League), Fridays and Sundays

Beginning after SPRING BREAK, Tuesday Clinics after school/evening will be Sponsored by GCAA at Stratford School Field for all Players 4th grade and UP.

 

The program consists of Four Seasons, each requiring separate re-registration:

Spring: Current registration and Traditionally Kicks it off.  This is the official “Season” All ages and skills

Summer: Additional add-on registration for Little League World Series tournament, tryouts required, ages 8-12, requiring Birth Certificate and multiple proofs of current  residency for participation

Fall/Winter:  Separate Registration for Fall Clinics and Scrimmages for all playing Player Pitch level only.  Outdoor pitching and throwing clinics in the Fall, and Batting cages in the winter.

*Summer and Fall is purely optional for those enjoying the game and seeking advanced play and skill development

 

April 1 Opening Day:

K-1 Clinic:  Monday Evenings 6PM TO DUSK  NASSAU HAVEN PARK

2-3 Grades:  Mondays and Fridays 6PM TO DUSK NASSAU HAVEN PARK (and one additional, potentially)

4-5 Grades: Thursday (Start 4/27, 6:15pm to Dusk)  and Saturday Games (Start 4/1) 10/Noon/2/4pm Depending  Possible Monday Eve games later in Spring with reschedules 

6-7 Grades: Fridays and Sunday (Afternoon)    Possible Monday eve games later in Spring with reschedules.

Coaches for the 4-5th and 6-7th will schedule 1x weekly practice with their team.

 

Additionally we will resume our Tuesday (**Updated 4/3, will be WEDNESDAYS for 2017) Pitching/Catching and Throwing Clinics at Stratford that will begin when daylight permits.

4:30pm GC High School home game vs Southside. Wear your jersey and support your home team!  ALL grades and Ages

 

MAY 22 - Picture Day grades K-3 at Nassau Haven fields

 

MAY 29th - METS game

Annual Mets GCAA softball Memorial Outing  4:10 pm vs Brewers. Block of 40 seats, $45 per ticket includes $10 of Food and Drink.  Can upsize with attendance.

9am - 12pm Little League World Series Garden City summer post-season playoff team tryouts (with June 4th rain out)

Tryouts for ages 12 Under (12U) and ages 10 Under (10U) teams Summer National Little League World series tournament  will again take place June 3/4 weekend.  New this year, this team will have extra week in JUNE leading up to the Summer Tournament so they have some time to work together as a team.  The Little League World Series Tournament starts end of June and progresses into July.  

 

JUNE 16th - Season Ends

Regular Season Ends ALL AGE GROUPS/DIVISION  Post Season Play begins for grades 4th-5th and 6th-7th ONLY. 

 

JUNE 24th - Picnic

10am-3pm First Annual Garden City Inter-Town Tournament and season ending Picnic at GC Community Park fields and Pavilions (Rainout 6/25) for all TEAMS 2nd grade - 7th Grade
