Welcome To The Home Of
Upper Moreland Little League
Upper Moreland Little League has been a longstanding contributor to the community by providing a safe and fun environment for youth to play baseball and softball for over 60 years. UMLL is a part of Little League District 22 and continues to stand out as a top program in the district. UMLL is a 100% volunteer organization.
2018 Player Registration
Upper Moreland Little League is pleased to announce that online registration for the Spring 2018 season is now REOPENED, and will remain OPEN through Monday, February 26th at 11:59pm, when we will temporarily disable registrations again until after completion of the player drafts. However, please note that there may already be restrictions on available roster spots in certain leagues, so please register your child(ren) ASAP!
To register, you can go onto the league website @ www.umll.net and log on with your account information created last year OR create a new account if you haven't registered with us in prior seasons. You will be able to confirm all of your contact information is still correct and then register your children.
As we embark on our Spring 2018 registration campaign, we wanted to call your attention to some changes in the registration fee structure. Due to the rising costs of maintaining our facilities and our programs, including complying with Little League Baseball's new bat standards for 2018, regrettably we needed to increase the cost of registration this season to $135 per player with a family cap of $270. The increase in registration fees this season over last season is also intended to help offset the elimination of credit/debit card processing fees that we've charged in the past for payment transactions through our website and at our Snackstand, as well as the elimination of the calendar raffle fundraiser that previously we encouraged every player to support in the past. As always, we will continue to reinvest registration fee income into the operation of our program and our facilities to make it the very best experience we can for our children.
At this point in time, we are now also imposing a $10 per player late fee since the initial registration deadline of February 17th passed. Therefore, registration fees are now $145 per player, with a family cap of $290.
Payment of registration fees this season MUST be made online, and at the time of registration, barring any special circumstances, which we encourage you to contact us at registration@UMLL.net to discuss further.
Just to make you aware of some registration-related deadlines...
+ The UMLL Board of Directors will be appointing team managers for the upcoming Spring baseball/softball season at a Special General Board meeting, likely to be held the week of February 26th. To be eligible for selection as a manager this season, you MUST complete the online Manager application form found under 'Online Forms' at www.UMLL.net. In addition, you MUST complete the Little League Volunteer Application - 2018, also found at www.UMLL.net, The deadline for submission of these forms will be Sunday, February 25th, so please do not delay so we can begin to formulate a listing of manager candidates for 2018.
+ We will accept player registrations for the Spring 2018 season up through Monday, February 26th with a guarantee that any players registered by that date will be eligible for the player drafts that occur in late-February 2018 and will be drafted & assigned to a team. Players registered AFTER February 26th MAY be placed on a waiting list in leagues that are filled.
Regardless, player registrations WILL be suspended beginning Tuesday, February 27th through the completion of player drafts that week, so if your child(ren) is NOT registered on or before February 26th, s/he will not be eligible for selection to a team by managers during their respective league draft and, instead, will be assigned to the next team in line to receive a player AFTER the player drafts are complete. In other words, if you want your child(ren) to be eligible to be drafted by a specific manager or to a specific team, make sure s/he is registered before Monday, February 26th!
+ Team sponsorship opportunities are available for the Spring 2018 season! Details, including cost information and instructions for locking in your team sponsorship will be e-mailed/mailed to returning team sponsors in the coming weeks. In the interim, the online sponsorship form is available now at www.UMLL.net.
+ Please continue to check www.UMLL.net for additional information regarding Spring 2018 player registrations! In the interim, you may direct questions regarding player registrations to registration@UMLL.net.

Little League Adopts USA Baseball's New Bat Standard Starting in 2018
With the Little League® International Board of Directors formally adopting USA Baseball’s new standard for bat performance testing, Little League International fully supports this program. For more than seventy-five years, Little League has used improvements in science, engineering, and technology to take the sport of baseball to higher levels. By utilizing the most current advancements available, manufacturers can now develop bats with a wood-like performance, which is important for the long-term success of the game. Developed by a USA Baseball committee of scientific experts, Little League Baseball® has decided to adopt the new bat standard for mandated use effective January 1, 2018. All national members of USA Baseball, including Little League, are encouraged to adopt this new standard. Little League-approved bats can be used through December 31, 2017, and our current bat regulations will be in effect until then. That includes the moratorium prohibiting the use of all 2 ¼ inch barrel baseball bats constructed with composite material in the barrel, unless approved. Visit LittleLeague.org for detailed information. Little League looks forward to working with USA Baseball, and will begin educating our local leagues, and the parents of our 2.1 million baseball players, preparing them for the important change coming in 2018.
Sports Concussion Awareness
UMLL is providing the following link -- http://www.cdc.gov/headsup/youthsports/index.html -- to important information on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website to help keep our volunteers, including Directors, coaches, umpires, and parents, informed of how to detect and respond to the signs of a concussion in our players.
The goal of the HEADS UP Concussion in Youth Sports initiative is to help ensure the health and safety of young athletes by offering information about concussions to coaches, parents, and athletes involved in youth sports. The HEADS UP initiative provides important information on preventing, recognizing, and responding to a concussion.
Embedded within the HEADS UP to Youth Sports program is the same free concussion training program that we are requiring our league directors, managers, coaches, and umpires to complete this pre-season. As parents of our players, we encourage you to also complete the training course, as well, to ensure all parties who interact with UMLL's players are best prepared to protect our kids.
Important Information about Changes to 2016 Baseball League Determination
In 2014, Little League Baseball Inc. District Administrators initially voted to move the baseball league age determination date from April 30th to December 31st, effective with the 2018 season. That change was amended by District Administrators and the Little League International Board of Directors in August 2015, moving the date from December 31st to August 31st. Effective November 2015, the implementation plan was again amended, grandfathering the four-months of children born between May 1st and August 31, 2005 as 12-year-olds for the 2018 season.
Recently, the UMLL Board of Directors elected to adopt these changes to the Baseball League Age Determination effective with the upcoming 2016 season. These baseball age determination dates will apply to all levels of play at UMLL -- in-house, travel, and tournament.
Please click on the enclosed link to Little League Baseball Inc. webpage for additional information on these recent changes to the Baseball League Age Determination that will impact the upcoming Spring 2016 Baseball season and forward.
