Hello Friends,

Thank you everyone. I am grateful to all of you for voting me as Miss MIST for 2024.

As I reflect on the meaning of this honour - community, congeniality, fair play, fairness,
comradery - I can’t help but think of all the past Miss MISTs and the company I am keeping.  Also, I see so many future Miss MISTs in our league today.

That is what is so special about this league. We live in a busy time and where the pulse of the world has a short fuse, this league still takes its time to play a game, have fun, and care about each other.

I joined the league in 2008, and with no prejudice and no hesitation, everyone just welcomed me. I don’t think anyone actually cared whether or not I could throw a ball. That is what I love about this league. It is unique from any other league I’ve played in, focusing on fun, friendship and support. What other league has an Out-of-Left-Field fund, a mid-year Mist tournament, Spirit Night or donates the winnings in our Charity Classic to organizations needing help? Is that all baseball??  Nope!!
To our Executives thank you for all you do. If it were just about scheduling games and getting permits, things could be easier. But all your extra work and time makes things sooo much more fun.

To my fellow coaches, thank you for making the games fare, doing the lineups every week and creating a fun environment at every game.

To our reps, thanks for keeping us all in order. It’s like herding cats!!

And finally, to all of YOU, our MWSL community. Thank you for joining and wanting to be a part of this. Without you, we would have no league or be able to do all the things we do for this community and each other.

I hope to wear the dress as well as my predecessors and do justice to MWSL’s highest honour.

M.W.S.L Mission Statement

Our Mission

The Markham Women's Slo-Pitch League (MWSL) is organized by and for the ladies of Markham.

It is our mission to provide the women of our community an opportunity to play organized slo-pitch as well as a forum to meet our neighbours and have fun.

It is our community and our league and we welcome all ladies at any skill level.

About the League

There are 6 teams in our league comprised of 12-13 players.  Each team goes through a balancing to ensure fairness.  Players of all skill levels are accepted between the ages of 21 to before “the hill".  We play Friday nights at Morgan, Mint Leaf or Centennial Parks from May to September.

Boundaries exist for residency between York-Durham/11th Line to McCowan and Steeles to 19^th Ave., HOWEVER we will accept players outside of these boundaries should no players exist on the "Wait List".

 Our History

 The Markham Women's Slo-Pitch League was founded in 1972.

 Many women have come and gone or moved away, many still play today but the essence of the original league lives on.
