Holly Pachella Walks on at West Chester University!

October 1, 2015

Holly Pachella walked onto the West Chester University varsity softball team, surviving the fall tryouts.  Congratulations Holly and good luck this Spring!  West Chester is a strong Division II program, and local so we should be able to get out and see Holly play some softball!

Interesting note for the spring of 2016:

Christy Von Pusch, RHS 2012, is a Senior and ready for her fourth year on the Penn State University softball team!  Penn State is a Division I program in the Big Ten, and recruits nationally for its players.

Ali Birtwistle, RHS 2013, is currently a junior on the club team at the University of Delaware, having made the team as a freshman.  Delaware has played in the NCAA club championships the last two years.

Izzy Schaefer, RHS 2014, will start her 2nd year as a pitcher for the F&M Diplomats, a Division III program in the Centennial Conference.

Radnor Stuns Nazareth in Thrilling Finish, Wins 8-3 to Advance to District Semis

May 23, 2015

Down 2 runs in the 7th inning, Radnor rallied to tie the game when Holly Pachella singled to drive in Brooke McClatchy and then with two outs Brooke Nicander was hit by a pitch to drive in Pachella.  In the bottom of the 7th and facing the top of the Nazareth order, pitcher Nicander got two quick outs before allowing a single to the three hitter.  The clean up hitter then smoked a double over McClatchy's head in center field, but Brooke ran it down, fired to shortstop Katie Jordan who then threw a strike in the air to catcher Holly Pachella who dove to apply the game saving tag out at home plate.  Sparked by the defensive brilliance, Radnor exploded for 5 runs in the top of the 8th to clinch the victory.

For an article on the game, click here!  Also review the summary in Game Results.

Radnor advances to the District Semi Finals for the second straight year and again will face Chichester.  Chichester is the top seed this year, and has a 20-1 overall record.  The game will be Tuesday, 5/26, at 4 pm, most likely at Strath Haven High School.

RADNOR WINS DISTRICT 1 TITLE!!! BEATS SPRINGFIELD 2-0

May 31, 2014

The Radnor Raiders capped an awesome three game run through the PIAA District 1 AAA playoffs with a 2-0 shutout of arch rival and #1 seed Springfield. Radnor opened with a 2-0 win over Pottsgrove, ran past Chichester 7-0 in the semi finals, before beating Springfield for the 3rd time this season.  In the Championship, Izzy Schaefer allowed only 2 hits while striking out 9; and Katie Jordan (2 for 3) flew around the bases for a 4th inning inside the park home run to spark the Raiders.  Amanda Davis preserved the 1-0 lead with a tremendous catch of a sinking line drive in center field, before Radnor added an insurance run in the 7th when Izzy had a line drive sac fly to drive in Bari Margolis (2 hits on the day).  The District 1 title is the first ever for Radnor High School in softball.  The Raiders open the state playoffs on Monday, June 2, at 2 pm vs. Franklin Towne Charter from District 12.  The game will be played at West Chester East High School.
