GCAA Basketball is Now Accepting Applications for the 2014-2015 Season.
GCAA, an entity that has been running sports in Garden City for over 50 years, is now accepting applications for the 2014-2015 basketball season. The application will be sent home in school backpacks the week of Sept 15th and can also be downloaded from the GCAA website, www.gc-aa.com. Please sign up early as the number of registrants will determine the amount of court time GCAA receives. By signing up now, you lock in the rates of $60 for the K-1 Clinics and $100 for intramurals. Late fees of $25 apply after October 31st.
The intramural season starts on Saturday, December 6th and runs thru mid-March. PLEASE NOTE GCAA BASKETBALL IS A SEPARATE AND DISTINCT ENTITY AND SHOULD NOT BE CONFUSED WITH GARDEN CITY BASKETBALL. GCAA runs our intramural program on Saturdays at St. Paul's. GCAA Basketball has improved its programs significantly over the last 5 years as we look forward to continued success. GCAA Basketball sets itself apart in the following ways:
GCAA had over 60 intramural teams last year in the 2013-2014 season. This season we expect even more.
GCAA has intramural standings, playoffs and player clinics. The standings and rosters are posted on the GCAA website. The GCAA season ends with “Championship Saturday” in March.
GCAA had over 18 travel teams in the 2013-2014 season. This season we expect even more. Travel Try outs will take place during the weeks of September 29th and October 6th. Please see a separate article about the GCAA travel program in this edition of the GC News.
GCAA runs a Challenger Program for the physically and mentally challenged with over 100 participants.
GCAA runs actual games for 2nd grade boys and 2-3 Girls.
GCAA will again have Saturday morning and Saturday afternoon times at the St. Paul's facility in the 2014-2015 season.
GCAA has drafts for all intramural teams 2nd grade and up in an effort to make sure teams are balanced and fair.
