Fall 2015 Activities Guide

The Fall Activities Guide is now available.  Click the image of the cover of the guide on the left to view the guide.  Included in this activities guide:

Registration is currently open and can be done online, by phone, or in person during normal business hours.  Remember to register soon, as some programs fill quickly.

 

Rutgers SAFETY Certification Course - September 22

The Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Clinic (Sports Awareness for Educating Today's Youth) is a three-hour program that meets the "Minimum Standards for Volunteer Coaches Safety Orientation and Training Skills Programs" (N.J.A.C. 5:52) and provides partial civil immunity protection to volunteer coaches under the "Little League Law" (2A:62A-6 et. seq.)

The Hillsborough Township Department of Parks & Recreation will be hosting a Rutgers SAFETY Certification Course for youth sport coaches of sports offered by the Department on Tuesday, September 22 beginning at 7:00pm in the Multi-Purpose Room at the Hillsborough Municipal Building. 

 The topics include:

  • Legal Aspects of Coaching
  • Psychological Aspects of Coaching
  • General Coaching Concepts
  • Training and Conditioning Athletes
  • Medical/First Aid Aspects of Coaching

Check in will begin at 6:30pm.  All participants must arrive prior to the class beginning.  Late participants will not be allowed to enter or complete the certification course.

Registration is available on CommunityPass.  Click the Register for Activities button or link above to sign up for the class.  Participants must be pre-registered.  The $35 fee includes a coaching reference manual.  There is a maximum number of seats in the class.  Register early to guarantee your place.

Text and email alerts for Field Closures and Program Notifications are now available!  To register for this free service, click on the "Games Canceled?" button with the lightning bolt on the right side of the page.  (Some browsers may not support this button, there is another one half way down the page on the left side, which may work for you as well).  Here, you will be able to make an account.  Note, if you used this service for the Basketball League over the summer, you may use your account information from that and add additional notifications.

Notifications available are:

  • Field Closures: Get notified at the latest field opening and closure status.
  • Program Notifications: Get alerted when the new program brochure is issued, for key registration deadlines, and for additional programs not in the brochure.

Registering for this service is free (data and text messaging rates may apply).  For questions with registration for this service, contact the webmaster.  Remember if you already have an account, log in using that and you may add the additional notifications you wish to receive.

Our mission is to enrich the lives of the residents of Hillsborough by providing safe, welcoming parks and recreation facilities and affordable, diverse recreation and social activities for people of all ages and abilities to play, learn, contemplate, build community, and be good stewards of our environment.

 

The Hillsborough Department of Parks and Recreation maintains the parks of Hillsborough and Flagtown and provides recreation programs for youth, adults, and seniors.

 

Youth programs include the instruction of fundamentals and skills of a variety of sports including soccer, basketball, softball, among others.  Our youth programs begin for children as young as four years old.  Sports leagues organized by the Department include fall and spring soccer, winter and summer basketball, and softball.

 

Adult programs include informal leagues for basketball and volleyball.

All parks are open to the public from 8:00am to dusk, as per Hillsborough Township Ordinances, unless a Department program is offered at the park.  Parks and athletic fields maintained by the Department are listed under the Parks Directory link.
