Winter 2014-2015 Activities Guide

The Winter Activities Guide is now available.  Click the image of the cover of the guide on the right to view the guide.  Included in this activities guide:

-Youth Programs
-Adult Programs
-Swim Lessons
-Spring Soccer Leagues
-Girls Softball Leagues
-Christmas Tree Lighting
-Youth Wrestling

Registration will begin on November 17 and can be done online, by phone, or in person during normal business hours.  Remember to register soon, as some programs fill quickly.

 

2014-2015 Winter I Swim Lessons

Swim lessons are an excellent way to get your child acquainted with the water. Qualified and enthusiastic instructors from the Hillsborough YMCA teach your child the skills needed to be a successful swimmer. With a small instructor to student ratio and different levels of classes, each child will learn new skills quickly.  Registration is currently open.

Hillsborough Special Olympics: Youth Athletes Program

Hillsborough Special Olympics is hosting Young Athletes this winter.  Young Athletes is a FREE, unique sport and play program for children ages 2 to 7 with intellectual disabilities.

  • Improve gross motor skills
  • Celebrate what your child CAN do
  • Improve social and language skills
  • PLAY with your child
  • Develop skills for future participation in sports

Text and email alerts for Field Closures and Program Notifications are now available!  To register for this free service, click on the "Games Canceled?" button with the lightning bolt on the right side of the page.  (Some browsers may not support this button, there is another one half way down the page on the left side, which may work for you as well).  Here, you will be able to make an account.  Note, if you used this service for the Basketball League over the summer, you may use your account information from that and add additional notifications.

Notifications available are:

  • Field Closures: Get notified at the latest field opening and closure status.
  • Program Notifications: Get alerted when the new program brochure is issued, for key registration deadlines, and for additional programs not in the brochure.

Registering for this service is free (data and text messaging rates may apply).  For questions with registration for this service, contact the webmaster.  Remember if you already have an account, log in using that and you may add the additional notifications you wish to receive.

About the Hillsborough Department of Parks and Recreation

Our mission is to enrich the lives of the residents of Hillsborough by providing safe, welcoming parks and recreation facilities and affordable, diverse recreation and social activities for people of all ages and abilities to play, learn, contemplate, build community, and be good stewards of our environment.

 

The Hillsborough Department of Parks and Recreation maintains the parks of Hillsborough and Flagtown and provides recreation programs for youth, adults, and seniors.

 

Youth programs include the instruction of fundamentals and skills of a variety of sports including soccer, basketball, softball, among others.  Our youth programs begin for children as young as four years old.  Sports leagues organized by the Department include fall and spring soccer, winter and summer basketball, and softball.

 

Adult programs include informal leagues for basketball and volleyball.

 

For a full list of program offerings, be sure to consult the program brochure, available on our website.  To register, you may use the Community Pass system by clicking the Program Registration link; alternatively, you may call our office to register over the phone.

 

All parks are open to the public from 8:00am to dusk, as per Hillsborough Township Ordinances, unless a Department program is offered at the park.  Parks and athletic fields maintained by the Department are listed under the Parks Directory link.
