Born and raised in Stamford Connecticut.
Resident of Maywood NJ since 1992.
Coach McAuliffe went to the University of New Haven, CT. from 1985 - 1988 and participated in four Division 2 College World Series.
1988 Coach McAuliffe signed as a free agent with the Cincinnati Reds playing in their minor league system until 1992 upon his release from the Reds organization.
Highlights of Coach McAuliffe's minor league career include:
1989 - An appearance in the South Atlantic League All- Star game and setting the single season save record for the Greensboro Hornets with 28 saves that season with an ERA of 1.39
1990 - An appearance in the Mid West League All - Star game and setting the single season save record for the Cedar Rapid Reds with 26 saves that season with an ERA of 1.97
Following the 1990 season Coach McAuliffe played in Australia playing for the Melbourne Reds.
Upon his return to the states he finished his professional career playing and reaching the double A level playing for the Chattanooga Lookouts.
Overall Coach McAuliffe appeared in 140 professional games with 59 saves and an ERA of 2.83.
After his professional career he played locally in the Metropolitan League where he was a key component for the Merchants three league titles.
After his playing days, Coach McAuliffe has been involved in mentoring and coaching in his home town of Maywood for the past decade, joining The Bergen Express in 2015.
