Cross Country Information
CMAC cross country is a fall sport (September-November). This youth circuit was developed to promote healthy activity & opportunities through running for boys and girls in Central Missouri ages 6-14. Each season, CMAC will host 5-6 meets in the area. Clubs may host meets as well. Athletes not attached to one of the CMAC clubs are allowed to participate in our events.

Cross country is a sport in which teams and individuals run in a race over natural terrain. Courses may include grass, gravel, hills, and flat land. The season is fall and winter, and can therefore include inclement weather such as rain, hail, sleet, snow, and wind. It is both an individual and team sport; runners are judged on individual times and a points-scoring method for teams. Most of all, cross country promotes lifelong fitness and friendships through running.

We do our best align our race distances along with the same distances run at Cross Country Coaches National Youth Championships (CCCNYC) series. There will always be the possibility that a race distance doesn't match based upon several factors such as an introductory meet, low registration, and property available for the meet.

Official race distances are as follows:
6-8 year olds - 2K
9-10 year olds - 3K
11-12 year olds - 3K
13-14 year olds - 4K

At the end of the CMAC regular season, all athletes from all teams come together to form a regional team. We will go compete at the regional championships in Kansas (early November). And after that, we compete at the national championships (late November).
