2020 Coach Code of Conduct

Coaches Code of Conduct

The essential elements of character building and ethics in sports are embodied in the concept of sportsmanship and six core principles: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and good citizenship. The highest potential of sports is achieved when competition reflects these six pillars of character.

I therefore agree:

• I will always remember that kids participate for fun and that winning is only part of the fun.

• I will never use negative ridicule or yell at children for making a mistake or not winning.

• I will be considerate and reasonable in my demands on player’s time, energy and enthusiasm. Youth sports are only one part of their busy lives.

• I will always operate within the code of conduct and rules Dover Eagles Flag Football and I will instruct the players to do the same.

• I will always ensure that the time players spend with me, as a coach, is a positive experience. All players are deserving of equal attention and opportunities.

• I will try to avoid overplaying the talented more skillful players.

• I will ensure that sporting equipment and facilities meet safety standards and are appropriate to the age and ability of all players.

• I will display control, respect and professionalism to all involved within the
sport. This includes opponents, coaches, officials, administrators, parents and other spectators. I will encourage players to do the same.

• Any physical contact with a child will be appropriate to the situation and
necessary for the player's skill development or medical care.

• I will respect the rights of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.

By submitting the form I agree to follow the Coaches Code of Conduct as stated above. I understand that the children I am coaching will reflect my actions and attitude. I will do my best at all times to remain a positive role model for all children in the York County Flag Football program. I realize that violation of this agreement may result in loss of game time, suspension for part of or all of the game, or even ejection from the YCFF Program.
