This is purely a theory

Only those of you that watch the series 24 with Jack Bauer the gang will understand this. Okay think back to the 3rd season when Michelle was kidnapped and Tony had to move the men from the rear of the building (to allow the bad guy to get away). Do you remember the feeling you had and the mood at CTU? Everyone knew something was wrong but couldn’t put a finger on it. Just like in the Miami series.

I think that this half hearted playoff effort by the pistons was somehow part of something way bigger then basketball. You can go all the way back to game 3 against the Cavs. They tried so hard to let the Cavs win but they couldn’t make it obvious and the Cavs fell. We intercepted a message just before tip off of game one. It read… we will release nerve gas in the Palace if you do not comply with our demands and allow the Heat to advance.

You see they (the PISTONS) did this to protect us.

That is the only explanation that makes any sense.
