| In addition to Colonia's 10-U and 12-U girls teams, our town's 14-U girls played in an 8th-grade league this year and really played their hearts out.
Many of the girls were playing travel ball for the first time. I watched them play a couple of times and they were a very athletic, scrappy group that always gave 100 percent. And it looked like they had fun, which is the most important thing.
Despite getting hit with some injuries, in Mayor's Trophy they defeated a tough Iselin team and came within one point of reaching the finals.
Head coach Paul Rasmus, with help from assistants Joe Ciampi and Ralph Warrick, did a nice job leading these kids.
