| well first of all i will say after you all read this a couple of mulligans will be issued .... facts 1. when lou took over cybl they had no money and didnt have the credit to afford the air in basketballs much less new ones 2. leisure wasn't giving any shirts back then unless he promised a past 4 figure bill would be paid 3. there was no travel for anyone in colonia basketball ... no feeder for the high school .... and no lunch truck on sundays 4. there was an awful floor which nobody cared about .. no scoreboard ... in other words WE WERE FREAKIN HOOSIERS and now we have new shirts on a regular basis for rec teams .... there is money there incase there is no sponsors ( which did happen , funny but i didnt see alot of people asking how the league survived that year when we didnt have enough sponsorship) there is a draft to balance out talent or atleast that is what a draft is for the coaches do the drafting not the presidents or the GM which brings me to another point about champ nite and such... every GM in this league knows full well that if they have an idea for something special for rec that they would get their wish this is a league about rec kids made of rec kids for rec kids ..... so if the boys gm has an idea that doesnt mean it is his idea and if its done then the girls cant do it .... the girls gm's have the same opportunity if not more so ... merrill got rid of girls to give more time to boys ,,, now that is worth getting on here and going off if the board did that ... and speaking of board remember if you have 12 people voting for things and it is in this town then personal feelings will come into play and the kids will be the last thought .. so people lets stop this stuff this is a fun league and by most accounts a league just exploring new boundries but lets not forget there was a day when none of this was possible and take my word there wasnt a dime ... so feel comfortable that your children have an opportunity that in reality if this league had not been taken over when it was it might not be here now .... and we wont get into gym time there is none around and with ccd and rec there is very little unless you share the gym as i stated which i do with the 5th and they do with me to get more time ... thats the simple answer there SHARE ...and the pres has nothing to do with that if coaches dont talk to each other boys or girls but i would guess based on this thread nxt yr we will have a better year because people are going to step up and do things and put in time ... so this all could work out for the better IF YOU OPEN YOUR EYES

| All i have to say is One kid made a shot during a game, then ran up to me while the game was still going on and gave me a HUG. Thats Right grown man had a Tear. Thats why i coach to see the kids have fun and improve. The draft was fair on the 3/4 level, the board works hard. Yes it improves ever year. I do think the 3/4 needs more gym time, and not at school 20 were you shoot a 3 and it hits the roof. Its better then nothing but not the floor they play on. Credit to Jerry for getting the 2 schools. Anyway, I enjoyed coaching the 1/2 this year and the 3/4.

| I stand to correct you Mr. Morton. Lets give proper credit to the proper people. People forget that it was Jeff Dattilo, Jack Frost and Jim Filzen and others that bailed out CYBL. Not Lou. Not to say that Lou has not done a good job. Lets just give people credit for what they have done in the past.

| Talk about skirting around the issue and questions by trying to paint someone as the savior. Fact is Jack and those guys saved the league, and then left because of the nonsense. Why are decsions made by a select few. Why are there no general mtgs that parents can ask questions in public. Why is it always, 'come see me at the court on Sat am and you can tell me what is bothering you' It is much more effective to voice opions in a forum that all can participate in person.

| all i was pointing out is we dont have the worst league in town ... and joe and lou and matt and all the travel coaches and rec coaches understand what is needed to make this work ... what is also needed is a name behind your post because i am responding but you have little to no cred because your name isnt on here ... and i have been involved in colonia sports all my life without having a child .... so there is my cred ...

| Lots of good points here by Jeff and some others.
This is a good league overall thanks to some of the guys mentioned in this thread pulling it up from its knees and guys that are currently running it keeping it up.
Of course there can be improvements here and there. As I've stated before, we could have more open meetings, etc... to discuss ideas and explain things better in cases where there are possibly misperceptions.
My hope is that when we do that it is constructive and, despite some disagreements, there is not an open bashing of people who have volunteered their time.

| Jack and those guys didn't save the league - John Galvin did, and yes, I was on the board back then.

| I am sorry! I did not realize that there was a BOY's League and a GIRL's League! Silly me... I thought CYBL was for ALL the kids and ALL should receive the same!!! I would have thought that it would be done for all! Silly ME!!! Thanks for opening my eyes! ~Leigh Anne
In reference to: Coach Morton.....every GM in this league knows full well that if they have an idea for something special for rec that they would get their wish this is a league about rec kids made of rec kids for rec kids ..... so if the boys gm has an idea that doesnt mean it is his idea and if its done then the girls cant do it .... the girls gm's have the same opportunity if not more so ...

| What I don't get is no one ever said this league is bad! Why is everyone so defensive? I did this, Jack and Jeff did this who cares? The past is the past. Look to the future and make the necessary improvements. Don't we all want the same thing? I thought we all want to make it better, if not the best youth basketball league in the area. Shouldn't that be the goal?
I think having the general mtg. is the way to do that. Everyone needs to put up or shut up though because we are getting what we asked for aren't we? We wanted a place to air it out so let's do it there like adults who have the best interests in mind of ALL the kids in the league. Attendance is needed and desired so let's do it and make this league even better.

| the biggest problem everybody is forgotting is the kids. The parents are the ones the ruin all the sports for kids as they want this and that. Well instead of complaining do something and help out. Otherwise, keep your mouth closed and let the KIDS play and enjoy it.
I agree all should be treated equal. If done for one it has to be done for all. No two ways around that.
Sad part is league was in bad shape and person who ran it into ground is still coaching.

| Lou / Joe - I step away from the league for one year and look what happens! LOL.
This is a message to all as I know most on both sides of the fence from Lou, Joe, Leigh Anne, my sister-in-law (you can choose your friends but not your family LOL), to Michele and the coaches.
Last I looked, everyone volunteers for this. They work their day jobs and then spend their off hours trying to make a basketball program work for the kids with very limited gym time and resources. It is the same people who volunteer from organization to organization. Each does it for their own reasons but some of the "benefits" include having parents take shots at you on a message board.
In LFLC, my job is year round and takes 2 hours on the off season and 26 hours during the season (high end math). So the message is - be wary of who you are taking shots at as they are trying to do the best that they can with what little free time they have.
I will be back coaching next year as my daughter is done with cheerleading (so am I) and wants to focus on SJV and Colonia basketball. (Lou and Joe are probably taking that as a threat! LOL). My youngest will also be playing. Those that know me in LFLC know I am very outspoken and very fair in my statements. I know most of those involved in CYBL and they are good people who do not deserve shots taken at them. The reason they ask to meet at the CMS gym is because, frankly, that is the only free time that they have.
For those lucky enough to be working, let me know when you see equality in the workplace. Should it be tolerated - HELL NO! Talk to those in charge and voice your opinion but do not get offended when they ask to meet you at a certain place because they want your opinion yet need to find time within the 26 hours to do it.
FYI - Lou is finishing up CYBL and running right into LFLC so both are hitting at the same time. Also, I for one, would love to see different people involved in every organization. Turnover is good because it brings in new ideas and opinions. Yet, it is the same people. I hear the same excuses usually revolving around work. Most are not working a normal work week anymore so they end up finding time to devote to your kids. Ask my wife or Leigh Anne what our April through July is like over at LFLC. Let me know when we get paid to do that.
Respectfully,
Dave Franczak LFLC Treasurer and CYBL coach (past and future)
PS - Never any hiding behind a screen name for me. I leave it all out there so if you would like to respond my email is dave@ees-inc.com
