The day started off with a loss to a very talented Connecticut Starters team. The Cyclones were only down 7 at halftime but too many turnovers cost the team the game in the end.
The final game of the weekend was vs. the Bay State Gators who just came off a win over the Connecticut Fillies national team (The Fillies beat U15’s by 30 on Saturday). Playing with only 7 players the Cyclones gave it their all but came up short 46-45. Allie Lord and Chandler Borrosh roughed up and frustrated the Gators 6’2 center, grabbing rebound after rebound and holding her to only a few buckets the entire game. Allie also had a huge bucket with 1 minute left in the game to cut the lead to 2 points.
Kelsey Loffredo lead the charge with 10 points (and also protected her mom from a gator) followed by Maggie Rakovic with 9. Megan Sewall seemed to be all over the gym, made a key steal down the stretch to give the Cyclones a shot at winning the game with seconds left. Cara Caliri and Mara Newland managed the game very nicely and protected the ball throughout the game Overall the Cyclones played tremendously on both offense and defense. An effort to be very proud of.

I was very proud of the effort from all seven girls against a very tall and tough Bay State Gators. We were undersized and out numbered but the girls showed tremendous heart.

Way to go Cyclones!
