| When news broke this week that NASCAR legend Tony Stewart was Australia bound for a series of big money events at Tyrepower Parramatta Raceway, some people just shook their heads and said 'no way'.
The dual NASCAR Sprint Cup champion, IRL Indy car titlist and USAC silver crown, sprintcar and midget master is headed our way in the next day or so and will spend a few hours in Sydney on Tuesday.
Almost as fast as he arrives and meets the media, Smoke will split for Hamilton Island where he will unwind for a few days.
His host, Garry Rush, has promised Tony plenty of enjoyable down time between commitments at Tyrepower Parramatta Raceway next Saturday on Boxing Night, the following Tuesday, 29 December and on Saturday and Sunday, 2-3 January when he contests the $50.000 to win Scott Darley, thanks to Coca Cola.
Yes, Tony Stewart will slip into the #14 Old Spice-Office Depot car alongside four times World of Outlaws champion Donny Schatz and All Star champion Tim Shaffer of Pennsylvania.
The Pick and Payless Rush Motorsport team has delivered a first for sprintcar racing in Australia and Tony Stewart's visit cannot be underestimated.
Everyone knows Tony cut his teeth in karts before USAC midgets, sprints and silver crown cars became a priority.
Whenever his NASCAR schedule allows you can find him driving the wheels off a sprinter, midget or dirt track late model on an oval similar to his Eldora Speedway in Ohio.
That is why his visit to Australia and Tyrepower Parramatta Raceway is not that unusual.
He came to our shores in 1995 as USAC's fresh faced triple crown champion and wowed everyone in the Bob Woods midget.
A return trip over the New Year period in 2001-2002 season was abandoned after the World Trade Centre in New York was targeted by terrorists on September 11 and airline travel was considered risky.
V8 Supercar drivers believe the arrival of Tony Stewart will do wonders for the sport in Sydney and they are spot on.
Spare a thought though for poor Marcos Ambrose who has followed Tony all season in the US.
Rules did not allow him to have a one off race at the recent Telstra 500 at Homebush yet Stewart flies into Sydney and he's ready to race Schatz, Shaffer and the locals in two lead up $10.000 to win events and the $50.000 pay off to the winner of the Scott Darley.
And Marcos made it to Eldora and raced a late model in the Prelude to the Dream event this year.
Anyone got a competitive sprintcar free on Boxing Night for the devil of a driver from Tassie?

| Scott Darley $50.000 To Win Attracts The Stars Posted Wednesday, 30 December 2009 by PCR Media
Any time you slam $50.000 on the table and tell a sprintcar driver it's all his for the taking you've got a thirst for winning that cannot be quenched.
Tyrepower Parramatta Raceway will aroused the appetite of every red blooded sprintcar professional this weekend, thanks to Coca Cola Bottlers, and again posted a fifty grand payoff to the winner of the race known Australia wide as the Scott Darley.
The two night affair at Sydney's clay capital honours the memory of young Scott Darley who was tragically killed there in a sprintcar last year.
Steve Kinser, at the helm of the East Coast Pipe Line machine, won the inaugural Scott Darley last year from perenial big race specialist Donny Schatz, the two men racing side by side in the closing laps before the 20 times King of the Outlaws locked down the victory.
For 2010 Schatz is back with the Rush Motorsport Pick and Payless team.
North Dakota Donny clinched the $10.000 to win Valvoline AGP on Sunday night and returned to the track only to be taken from behind by Ian Madsen in the Hogs Breath International on Tuesday evening.
That incredible race slipped ten big ones in Madsen's pocket and gave him bragging rights over brother Kerry who is due back in town this weekend.
The guys out on the road with Performance Wholesale World Series race at Warrnambool on 1 January and will tow into Parramatta's pits around 3pm on Saturday.
The entourage will include series leader Brooke Tatnell, challengers Robbie Farr, Max Dumesny, Ryan Farrell and Kerry Madsen.
American racin' Jason Johnson who has three competition round victories at Parramatta, Murray Bridge and Mount Gambier this summer, looms as one guy to watch closely.
He is the form driver of the moment and knows what it takes to win around the Sydney clay oval.
And if you want another three names to ignite and excite consider dual NASCAR Nextel Cup champion, IndyCar titlist and USAC triple crown king Tony Stewart, Australian title holder Garry Brazier and Hogs Breath hero Ian Madsen.
Stewart arrived in Sydney to a huge fanfare of publicity and has not disapointed a soul.
He tried to re-learn the sprintcar handbook on Sunday night and came back on Tuesday evening looking every inch a champion.
He set quick time for the meeting while his number was eclipsed only by team mate Donny and Aussie icon Garry Brazier.
In the main Stewart finished fourth while the third US representative Tim Shaffer, clinched a heat victory and placed sixth.
Shaffer, a slow talker from Alquippa, Pennsylvania, hopes a new engine will arrive from the US in time to be fitted to the Brett Morris Mini Pickers #71 before Saturday.
"We've got the car doing everything right so another 80 horsepower will put us in with the hound dogs," he promised.
Saturday's night one of the Scott Darley $50.000 presented by Coca Cola, will commence ay 7.00pm following warm ups and qualifying at 5.30pm.
