Since the bailout some Americans refer to GM as Government Motors?

He may not be somewhere between John Wayne and Clint Eastwood, but before his career is over, Jimmie Johnson will obliterate the record 7 titles shared by "The Intimidator" and "The King". Also, Jimmie can win titles without having to rough up and intimidate everybody and not have to worry because Nascar is in his back pocket. Dale Earnhardt wouldn't have won half the titles he did on talent alone. He was a really good driver, but how many cars did he knock out of his way to win? How many has Johnson? As far as Petty goes, how many drivers were a legitimate threat to consistantly win back in his day? Half a dozen, tops. How many now? Well into double digits.

4 straight titles, only 3 more to tie. He's probably still got 10 to 15 good years left. Oh yeah, did I mention that he has 2 wins in 3 starts this year? Already has 20 bonus points heading to the chase. That's something else Earnhardt or Petty never had to do, win the championship in a playoff. Alot tougher to win it now than it was back then. Pretty good chance neither of them would've won 7 titles under this format. Don't get me wrong, I'm not taking anything away from Earnhardt or Petty, they were both great in their day, but people have to stop living in the past and start realizing that we are all witness to something very special happening in Nascar right now. And Jimmie goes about his business in a very humble manor, something in which many of today's overpaid, overbearing athletes can learn a thing or two from. I think it was Chosen 1 who said on here one time that the thing that impresses him about Johnson the most is that he always stays on an even keel, never too high and never too low, that he's the same after a race whether he wins or finishes last.

I don't agree with that at all. Why Jimmie Johnson then? Why sign Dale Jr for all that moolah and not make him "IT"? Jeff and Dale Jr are both alot more marketable than Jimmie. Hendrick doesn't drive the race car, Jimmie does. The owner can't just say to the driver, "okay, you're going to be the next "IT", the guy still has to have alot of talent. There are other owners in Nascar just as rich as Henrick or at least awfully close to it.

Jack Rousch is probably richer than Rick Hendrick. Why doesn't he make one of his drivers the next "IT"? To me this just sounds like sour grapes from a fan of anyone but a Hendrick's driver. Why can't people just accept it when a team(in any sport) or driver is good and talented, instead of always looking for conspiracy theories?

There's something else I figured out. At his current pace, if Jimmie Johnson raced until he's 70 as someone suggested, he'd win 21 championships. That's a few more than 7.

Not a chance Government Motors are in trouble. If not for the bailout we would Rick, Jimme, jeff and the litle-one on the sidelines.
