I have a message for all past, present and future Rhinos. This message may be upsetting to some, but I have been watching what's been going on since I left Washington last April and it's time for something to be done.

I have 3 Issues...

Issue 1: GLEN FRANK- Your NEW HEAD COACH is one of the most qualified wrestlers in the state. I cannot express how excited I was to have him involved in our club and you guy act like he is just someone's dad filing in and are driving right past his wrestling room to be part of "the next big thing". That's ridiculous. Just because Glen is too modest (which was one of the things I love about Glen) to tell you about his accomplishments doesn't mean he doesn't have them.

Let me help you out with this. Here is Glen's Resume:

Glen earned 3 High School varsity letters in wrestling. He was three-time District Champion, two-time State Champion in 1981-82, 3rd in the State Freestyle Championships in 1980-82, State Greco Champion in 1982, and 2nd in the National Greco tournament in 1982.

Glen wrestled for the United States Marine Corp and represented the United States in the Pan American Games. He was 1st alternate to the United States Olympic team in 1988.

Glen graduated from Colorado School of Mines where he was a 4 year letterman in wrestling. He was conference Champion all four years, placed 7th in the NCAA National Championships in 1990, 2nd in the NCAA National Championships in 1991, and was the NCAA National Champion in 1993.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT GLEN WAS THE FIRST ALTERNATE TO REPRESENT THE US IN THE 1988 OLYMPICS IN GRECO AND IS A 3 TIME NCAA DII ALL AMERICAN.. HELLO????

I promise if you don't take advantage of Glen, there will be people that come up behind you that do. So look at where you are wrestling right now and I don't want to hear about the dang partners. You guys have enough kids in the Edmonds and Shoreline School District that can battle with each other. Get everyone to Coach Glen's practices and learn from one of the best.

Issue 2: Yes I've heard al about Pin City and I'm sure that Burke is going to do amazing things with that LAKE STEVENS PROGRAM. The problem is guys that the main thing Pin City is gonna do is maintain LS dominance at the high school level. You guys are making their guys better. All of their guys. That includes the ones coming up behind them. Glen is every bit as good a coach and wants to build your program in your own backyard. Stop feeding someone elses program and take yours back.

Here is how I see it and yes it may be old school, but it's what I know. The Rhinos used to dominate tournaments from top to bottom, back in the 80's and early 90's. We droppped off and in the early 2000's were real strong again. When we were at our best it was because our wrestlers wrestled with us. All of them together. There are lots of reasons why there are waves of successs, but the main thing is guys if you don't support your own community then you can't build a program. I'm so tired of this next best thing trend. It was USA Everett, then it was Visionquest, then it was Team Agression, and now Pin City.... For god's sake guys. Stay in your hometown long enough and support your own program long enough to rebuild a program. Put your ego's aside about wanting to be with that team or another team and be part of a team that has a successful history and with your help an even more successful future. You've got the best coaches and tough wrestlers... Joe Trieu, Brian Alfi, Jacob Trieu, Matt Hadreas, and any of you other guys that grew up in the program and had success because of the program, GIVE BACK TO THAT PROGRAM. DON'T BUILD SOMEONE ELSES.... IF YOU ARE HELPING AT PRACTICE HELP THERE. IF YOU ARE LEARNING FROM SOMEONE, LEARN FROM GLEN. WE DON'T KNOW IT ALL. In the short time I was able to work with Glen, I learned a lot that I tried to pass on.

Issue 3: Tournaments... Guys really. Two kids at a tournament this weekend? That's it? Unacceptable. You guys need to take a hard look at the guys that finished ahead of you on the podium at hs state or at freestyle nationals or wherever you wish you were and you need to work harder than them. They are going to tournaments. If you aren't you are not only NOT catching up to them. You are falling behind.

BOTTOM LINE ON THIS MESSAGE TO YOU ALL.. GET TO WORK AND REBUILD THIS DAMN PROGRAM NOW. I EXPECT THAT YOU WILL HAVE AS MANY WRESTLERS AT THE THREESTYLE TOURNAMENT AS JUNEAU ALASKA DOES NEXT WEEKEND. I HOPE I'M NOT DISAPPOINTED.

So I didn't intend this message to be accusing or angry.... I hope you all read that
as a motivational "let's get to work on making this club right" which is how I intended it. I'd love to hear if you guys think that I
am nuts or do you believe me when I tell you that you need to ge these three things right.
#1. You have an awesome new coach so take
advantage.
#2. build your program instead of someone elses.
#3. if you want more success do more work. Get to the tournaments.

These are the things I am trying to convey. What are your thoughts Rhinos? does this make sense? Am I nuts. Do you want to build something of your own or build something for someone else? Am I talking to myself? How many of you will be at the tournament this weekend? Go and achieve something man....
