Yellow Comes Back 27-24

Offensive Player of the Game: Joey Kejbou, 7 rec, 153 yards, 2 TDs
Defensive Player of the Game: Natham Karrumi, 2 Ints

The story of this game was the start of Mike Akrawi's CFL career. He was able to find his primary target, Sean Mattia, for 6 rec for 149 yards and 2 TDs on the day, but it wasn't enough against the back to back champs of Team Yellow.

Mike looked good early, and scored early and often, but both teams were able to score with relative ease in this shootout. He finished 14-19 for 228 yards, 4 TDs and 3 Ints. Yellow answered back with 12 points in the 2nd quarter and Natham Karrumi was able to reach his new go-to target in Joey Kejbou, 7 rec for 153 yards and 2 TDs.

Key plays in the game were made by Tyson Yono, who scored on a 50 bomb and Karrumi who helped his own cause with 2 interceptions on the rookie QB. Karrumi's offensive line was an efficient 10-14 for 220 yards and 4 TDs.

Ernest Yeldo was able to shake off some rust and pick off Akrawi in the second half as well. Akrawi will look to adjust to the CFL and should improve over the season as he gets in more reps. AT, nice trade.

Game Notes...after some jawing back and forth, Kejbou reminded Pete Rabban that talking during the game isn't the best thing to do as he managed to break his ankles for a 55 yard score, Kejbou's longest of the day...Chris Sesi dropped some key passes from his brother-in-law, but he's still good shuck...Branden Yono had to leave the game with what appears to be a rotator cuff injury, details on the injury to follow...Nader Jiddou made his return to the CFL after a 7 year exile and contributed 2 sacks and 2 tackles...Sean Mattia beat Norm Yono in a race--oh he's fast shuck...

White Wins in a Thriller 19-18

Offensive Player of the Game: Dani Jajou, 5 rec 104 yards 2 TDs
Defensive Player of the Game: Joey Jonna, 8 tackles

This game had Joey Jonna's name all over it. After two years out on doctor's orders, Jonna shows he still has what it takes to win, and does so with 14 seconds left in comeback fashion.

Chris Zeer had a very efficient game, completing 24-38 for 238 yards, 3 TDs and 1 Int in what was a great all around game for team Blue. Zeer was able to connect with second year gamer Dani Jajou, who caught 6 passes for 104 yards and 2 TD's. His second TD was literally snatched out of saftey Mike Toma's hands getting Blue back in the game for a score of 13-12, advantage White.

With just a few minutes left in the 4th, Ray Lousia intercepted Jonna and on the ensuing drive Blue scored with Zeer finding Norman Yono on a crossing route to give Blue a 18-13 edge.

Jonna was able to manage the clock and found the rookie Mike Sesi on a 50 yard fly route to give White the lead with 14 seconds left. A great finish to start the year for Jonna who totaled 11-19 for 156 yards, 3 TDs and a forgettable 3 Ints.

Game notes...Blue had possession for all but one minute in the third quarter...Norm is fast...Jonna had 8 tackles to lead all CFL players defensively...90% of the sideline knew Jonna was looking for rookie Sesi on the fly route (brashed baba shuck)...JR Kizy has no medical expertise whatsoever...Lance Samona left the game with a cracked rib...Chris Denha was probably in Tijuana when the game officially started...Jordan Rassam's hair was perfect even after the game...Vinny Kejbou should have played...Sal Kesto, stay home...

Black Edges Green in OT 21-20

Offensive Player of the Game: Karl Dallou, 2 rec 23 yards 1 TD, 3-3 10 yards 1 TD and convert XP to win in OT as QB
Defensive Player of the Game: Aws Ayar, 3 tackles 1 sack in CFL debut

"It's gonna be three long years shuck," according to Green coach Tony Attisha, but if rookie QB Justin Orow can put 20+ points up a game, Green should enjoy this run. Many have questioned the trade made by Attisha, but you can't fault a coach for trying to improve his team's chances to win.

Orow was able to connect early with rookie Anthony Yaldo on a 50 yard bomb to put green ahead early 7-0. But Black was able to come back, and once again, the feet of the 38 year old Columbian drug Lord were showing no signs of slowing down.

Tarik Kama, arguably the quickest athlete to ever take the field had his way with Green's defense, leaving Derek Putrus and Brian Najor to wonder what field they were playing on. (Insert scratching head icon here.) It didn't help that Najor was pancaked twice, first by Steve Sagmani and second by Dylan Putrus. To Najor's credit, he did punt the ball and ran down to pull a flag, but Dylan, shuck, well he's an animal.

The story of this game was Tony Attisha. Did anyone see him today or know if he slept in? Apparently, he was unable to help Green or the rookie QB. Orow relied heavily on the rookie Yaldo who finished the game with 5 rec for 92 yards and a TD.

The other ageless wonder, Karl "ok shuck I'm 39, but he still can't stop me shuck" Dallou stepped up for Black when Kama went down. Not only did he score early for Black, but he was able to fill in at QB and toss the tying score to John Paul Namou and complete the extra point to his nephew Derek Rabban for the go ahead and a 21-20 win in OT.

Game notes...you guys that are less than 5 years in this league have no idea how fast Tarik was and still is...Aws is a good rusher...Pierre Bacall can block...Anthony Yaldo is fast...Nick Ammori did play and recorded 1 tackle for the game...Steve Sagmani recorded no stats but if there was a category for pancakes he would get 1...Tarik left the game with a calf injury...Karl Dallou is looking forward to Crown's and Kona Grille on TROCK...

Joey

You know I was there, you are just saying that. Remember I was holding your jock strap while you ran down the field for your 2nd TD.

We will get good enough to make a difference some day.
